Job Summary: The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of a fleet of vehicles. This role ensures that all fleet operations are conducted efficiently, vehicles are maintained to the highest safety standards, and maintenance costs are controlled. The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor coordinates with drivers, mechanics, and other staff to schedule and prioritize repairs and maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership:
Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of mechanics and maintenance staff.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and ensure team adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
Maintenance Scheduling:
Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules for all fleet vehicles.
Coordinate with drivers and other departments to minimize downtime and ensure timely servicing.
Vehicle Inspections and Repairs:
Oversee routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs to maintain vehicle safety and performance.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company standards.
Inventory Management:
Maintain inventory of parts and supplies necessary for vehicle maintenance.
Order parts and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure timely availability of required materials.
Record Keeping:
Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
Utilize fleet management software to track maintenance history and costs.
Budget Management:
Monitor and manage the fleet maintenance budget.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising vehicle safety and reliability.
Safety and Compliance:
Promote and enforce a culture of safety within the maintenance team.
Ensure all maintenance practices comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Problem Solving and Decision Making:
Diagnose complex vehicle issues and determine the best course of action.
Make informed decisions quickly to minimize vehicle downtime and maintain fleet efficiency.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in automotive or diesel technology preferred.
Proven experience in fleet maintenance, with at least [X] years in a supervisory role.
