Job Description

The Draughtsman in the Firefighting Systems field is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings, schematics, and layouts for fire protection systems. This role involves collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other professionals to ensure compliance with local, national, and international fire safety standards and codes.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop detailed design drawings and plans for fire protection systems (e.g., sprinklers, fire alarms, hydrants, fire suppression systems) using CAD software.
• Review architectural and engineering drawings to ensure accurate placement and design of firefighting equipment.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to gather technical information and incorporate it into the drawings.
• Ensure compliance with relevant fire safety standards (NFPA, local codes) and client requirements.
• Modify and update drawings based on feedback from the project team or regulatory bodies.
• Prepare as-built drawings after project completion to reflect the final installed systems.
• Maintain accurate records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation.
• Assist in material take-off calculations and preparation of bill of materials (BOM) as required.
• Participate in site visits when necessary to gather information or verify installation details.
• Work closely with other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, and civil teams to ensure integration of firefighting systems with the overall design.

Skills and Qualifications :

• Education : Diploma in Drafting, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience : 3-5 years of experience in drafting, preferably in firefighting or mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD software.
• Knowledge of fire safety standards (e.g., NFPA, IFC) and building codes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
• Knowledge of hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems is a plus.

Work Environment :

• Office-based with occasional site visits.
• Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other technical staff.
