Job Summary:
The Fire Fighting Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the installation, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, hydrants, and other safety systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire safety, mechanical or electrical systems, and leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of fire protection systems, ensuring they meet design specifications, safety codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and manage a team of fire protection technicians, subcontractors, and laborers, ensuring that all work is carried out safely and to high-quality standards.
• Review and interpret fire protection drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Monitor and control project schedules, ensuring that fire protection works are completed on time and within budget.
• Conduct regular site inspections to assess the quality of work, verify compliance with safety regulations, and resolve any issues that may arise.
• Ensure all fire protection equipment is properly installed, tested, and maintained according to industry standards and manufacturer recommendations.
• Collaborate with project engineers, designers, and project managers to address technical challenges and ensure effective communication across teams.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of all fire protection work, including inspection reports, testing certifications, and maintenance logs.
• Ensure compliance with fire safety codes, local regulations, and health and safety standards (e.g., NFPA, local building codes).
• Provide guidance and training to staff on fire safety practices, installation techniques, and emergency response procedures.
• Manage and track fire protection materials and equipment to ensure timely procurement and effective utilization on site.
• Respond to emergency situations on-site and provide immediate corrective actions as necessary.
Requirements:
• Educational Background: A degree or diploma in Fire Safety Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire fighting system installation, maintenance, or supervision, with a focus on large-scale projects.
• Solid knowledge of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, hydrants, fire suppression, and emergency response systems.
• Strong understanding of fire safety codes and regulations (e.g., NFPA, local building and fire codes, OSHA).
• Experience leading and managing teams in the installation, testing, and commissioning of fire fighting systems.
• Ability to read and interpret fire protection system designs and blueprints.
• Proven track record of managing fire protection projects within budget, on time, and to high standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Health and safety certification (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) is highly desirable.
