Job Description

The Fire & Life Safety Engineer designs, evaluates, and implements fire safety systems and protocols to protect people and property. This role involves assessing fire risks, developing fire prevention plans, and ensuring compliance with fire safety codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

Design fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, and suppression systems. Develop and implement life safety plans, evacuation procedures, and emergency response strategies. Risk Assessment:

Conduct fire risk assessments for new and existing buildings. Identify potential fire hazards and recommend mitigation measures. Code Compliance:

Ensure compliance with local, national, and international fire safety codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, IBC). Review architectural and engineering plans to ensure they meet fire safety requirements. Project Management:

Manage fire safety projects from initial planning through construction and final inspection. Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate fire safety systems into building designs. Inspections and Testing:

Perform regular inspections and testing of fire protection systems to ensure proper operation. Oversee maintenance and repair of fire safety equipment. Training and Education:

Conduct fire safety training sessions for building occupants and staff. Develop educational materials and evacuation plans. Documentation and Reporting:

Prepare detailed reports on fire safety evaluations, inspections, and incident investigations. Maintain accurate records of fire safety activities and compliance documentation. Emergency Response:

Assist in developing emergency response plans and procedures. Participate in emergency drills and real-life incident responses. Qualifications: Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field is preferred. Professional Experience:

Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in fire protection engineering or fire safety. Experience with designing and implementing fire protection systems in various types of buildings.
