Financial Accountant

Job Description

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for the full accounting duties pertaining to the business and personal accounts of the shareholders- debtors, creditors, petty cash, banking accounts, statutory returns and monthly reporting

1) Reconciliations of Key Accounts

o Reconcile all bank accounts on a daily basis.

o Reconcile all loan accounts on a monthly basis.

o Bank accounts reconciled monthly

o Conduct monthly reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy

2) Budgets and Financial Statements

o Assist in preparing annual budgets.

o Process and capture month end journals.

o Prepare draft monthly financial statements and reports as required.

o Calculate and issue financial analysis of the financial statements

o Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

o Maintain the chart of accounts

o Maintain the annual budget

o Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues

3) Others

o Capture & reconcile petty cash accounts.

o Provide clerical and administrative support to management if required.

o Produce balance sheet, profit and loss and project summary reports as required by the Finance Manager.

o Follow up outstanding creditors, maintain records and provide reports as required.

o Ensure that all financial records are accurate and timely for end of financial year audits

o Comply with general office policies, procedures and all legal requirements.

o Undertake any other specific duties as required by the Finance Manager.

Computer processing skills, general accounting and bookkeeping training, record keeping practices and training, or related job experience of greater than two years in a similar position.

Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately, including percentages, fractions, decimals, and simple mathematical formulae.

Highly motivated with an ability to solve practical problems and follow written, verbal or other instructions with several concrete variables.

Attention to detail and the ability to organize complex information neatly and accurately.

Strong organizational and time management skills,

Ability to compose original correspondence, write reports, have effective

interaction with people, and to communicate ideas and receive and process

information from others.

Self-directed with an ability to learn a systematic approach to accounting and

to follow the approach without direction to maintain the integrity of the financial data.

Approximately 3-5 years proven accounting or related experience

Experience with SUN Infor ERP accounting and current knowledge of all accounting standards associated with the preparation and maintenance of organizational financials.
