Overall Purpose of the JobTo oversee laboratory analyses of petroleum fluids; ensuring they are performed in a safe and efficient manner according to written procedures and work instructions.To ensure all necessary experimental information is recorded accurately. To process laboratory data and prepare results in a format suitable for presentation to client oil companies.Key Activities and Accountabilities
To organise the efficient handling of client specified work programs of studies/clients which are allocated by the PVT Services Senior Supervisor/ PVT Team Lead (or nominee), supervising staff where appropriate and designated usually to be conducted at a regional satellite laboratory. This will include compositional analysis as well as PVT experimentation.
Interpret the measured data by use of laboratory software packages and calculation methods; record all such calculations and methods of working in laboratory work files (annotated as necessary for later review) and prepare the results in a format suitable for presentation to clients.
Liaise with client on all aspects of PVT studies, including bid proposals, interim data, work progress, and final reporting. Where appropriate to handle face-face meetings either at the laboratory or client site. Actively seek opportunities to increase laboratory revenue and promote use of SAT laboratory to clients.
Conduct PVT/GC experiments in a safe and efficient manner according to specified methods laid down in the laboratory work Instructions and Procedures. Actively seek improvements either in quality or efficiency.
Where necessary submit all processed data together with methods of working to the Data Evaluation Team or PVT Services Senior Supervisor (or nominee) for approval before release of the data to external parties or clients.
To conduct training of junior staff members where directed by senior member of staff, and act as a mentor to junior members of the SAT lab team, including supervision of other staff where appropriate.
Conduct \'small scale\' laboratory maintenance and calibrations as required. Including general laboratory maintenance where necessary. Including the commission of new sat lab facilities.
Follow all other administrative procedures and work instructions specified by laboratory management systems so as to comply with the requirements of appropriate accreditation. Including all day-to-day operational requirements for the relevant satellite laboratory (e.g. safety tours, inventory checks).
Be aware of safety considerations at all times and bring any perceived safety issues to the attention of the Fluids Laboratory Manager (or nominee) without delay.
Ensure all appropriate paperwork is available to allow immediate travel to designated satellite laboratories, including passports, visa and vaccinations.
