The Fiberglass Moulder is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and repair of fiberglass molds used in the production of various fiberglass products. This includes preparing molds, mixing resin, applying fiberglass layers, and ensuring high-quality finishes on each product. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
• Mold Preparation:
• Prepare and clean molds by applying release agents and ensuring molds are free of imperfections.
• Repair or maintain molds as necessary to ensure proper functioning and product quality.
• Fiberglass Application:
• Mix resins and other chemicals as per specific formulas and specifications.
• Apply fiberglass layers using hand-layup techniques or spray equipment, ensuring proper thickness and uniformity.
• Cut and shape fiberglass materials to fit molds accurately.
• Use rollers and brushes to remove air bubbles and ensure a smooth finish.
• Quality Control:
• Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring there are no defects such as air bubbles, cracks, or surface imperfections.
• Make necessary adjustments to molds or fiberglass application to meet quality standards.
• Health and Safety:
• Follow all safety protocols, including the use of protective gear (respirators, gloves, etc.) and safe handling of chemicals.
• Ensure work area is well-ventilated and clean to minimize the risk of accidents.
• Report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of production, including resin mixtures, application methods, and time taken for each task.
• Assist in the development of new molds and products as required by the production team.
Required Qualifications:
• Experience:
• Previous experience as a Fiberglass Moulder or in a similar role within the fiberglass or composites industry.
• Knowledge of various fiberglass molding techniques such as hand-layup, spray-up, or vacuum bagging.
• Skills and Abilities:
• Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good physical stamina, as the job involves standing, bending, and lifting heavy materials.
• Basic understanding of safety procedures when handling chemicals and resins.
• Problem-solving skills for addressing defects or imperfections in molds.
