Job Specifications and Responsibilities:

Must have worked as feeding supervisor for a Dairy/Cow Farm or Farm Feeding Team Leader, minimum of 3 years.

Supervise the operation of tagging and grouping livestock to ensure tracking and monitoring through the Herd Management Software Ensure adherence to bio-security measures for the cow farm operations. Work with Engineering team to ensure that preventive maintenance of infrastructure at the farm including cattle pens and other farm equipment are done as per agreed plan. Highlight any breakdowns in own area to Head, Farm Production and engineering team to ensure breakdown maintenance is done within SLA and operations is not interrupted. Supervise the preparation of feed for cows on daily basis as per the provided feeding schedule. Ensure quality feed is provided to cows by tracking if mixing is done with right quantity of feed inputs. Perform visual assessment of feed and report any non-compliances. Work with external partners to get the feed regularly analysed. Supervise transportation of feed from mixers to cow pens Supervise the operation of tagging calf's to ensure tracking and monitoring through the Herd Management Software Ensure adherence to bio-security measures for the calf houses. Supervise preparation and cleaning of calf house to match suitability to number of calves. Work with Engineering team to ensure that preventive maintenance of calf houses is done as per agreed plan. Highlight any breakdowns in own area to Head, Farm Production and engineering team to ensure breakdown maintenance is done within SLA and operations is not interrupted. Supervise the dry and young stock management including feeding, vaccination. Adhere to feeding program designed for dry and young stock. Adhere to vaccination program designed for dry and young stock. Comply with quality parameters/ process defined for Cow Farm in line with international standards, specifically pertaining to HACCP, ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 Support implementation, tracking and reporting of quality management and food safety initiatives across the Cow Farm Adhere to departmental budgets and ensure optimal utilization of all available resources. Implement approved departmental policies, processes and procedures, to ensure work is completed out in a controlled and consistent manner while delivering a world class service. Carry-out cost-efficient usage of all resources at disposal to reduce wastage and unnecessary expense. Share ideas and viewpoints to further streamline processes, thus driving efficiency and improvements across the organization. Comply to all relevant QHSSE management procedures and controls across the department so that AFLP provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its employees. Stay updated with on-going change and cascade approved communication to the layers below. Collect and share ideas and viewpoints to further streamline systems, processes, thus driving efficiency and improvements across the organization. Provide operational guidance and feedback to team members on a day to day basis Provide inputs on team members during performance appraisal process.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in agriculture, Dairy Management or related discipline
