:Apt Resources is recruiting a skilled and experienced Feeding Supervisor to manage the Calf House and Feeding operations at a well-established dairy farm in Abu Dhabi. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive management and supervision of the calf house, ensuring that all operations related to the feeding and overall well-being of the calves are conducted efficiently and effectively. You will also take on the critical task of overseeing the care of both dry and young stock, guaranteeing that they receive the highest standards of care and attention necessary for their growth and development.Responsibilities
Supervise livestock tagging and grouping for tracking via Herd Management Software.
Ensure bio-security measures are followed for cow farm operations.
Coordinate with the Engineering team for preventive maintenance of farm infrastructure.
Report breakdowns to Head of Farm Production and Engineering for timely maintenance.
Oversee daily feed preparation for cows according to the feeding schedule.
Monitor feed quality, ensuring correct input quantities are mixed.
Perform visual feed assessments and report any issues.
Work with external partners for regular feed analysis.
Supervise transportation of feed from mixers to cow pens.
Oversee calf tagging and tracking through Herd Management Software.
Ensure bio-security measures are followed in calf houses.
Supervise calf house preparation and cleaning to accommodate the correct number of calves.
Collaborate with Engineering team for preventive maintenance of calf houses.
Report any breakdowns in calf house operations to the relevant teams.
Manage dry and young stock, including feeding and vaccination.
Follow designated feeding and vaccination programs for dry and young stock.
Ensure compliance with international quality standards (HACCP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000).
Support the implementation and tracking of quality management and food safety initiatives.
Adhere to departmental budgets and ensure efficient resource use.
Implement policies, processes, and procedures for consistent service delivery.
Optimize resource usage to reduce waste and unnecessary expenses.
Contribute ideas for process improvements to increase efficiency across the organization.
Comply with QHSSE management procedures to ensure a safe, secure, and environmentally responsible operation.
Keep updated on changes and communicate them effectively to the team.
Provide operational guidance and feedback to team members daily.
Contribute to team members' performance appraisals with input.
Requirements:
Proven experience in dairy farming, specifically in calf management with 6+ years of hands-on experience in agricultural processes and farms operations, with at least 3 years in a similar role, preferably in the similar industry.
With Bachelor's degree in agriculture, Dairy Management or related discipline.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate a team.
With knowledge of dairy science.
With understanding of farm safety practices.
With knowledge of cow feed programs.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
