It is one of the largest pure-play producers and exporters of thermal coal in South Africa based on aggregate coal reserves and marketable coal production. Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets.As the Export Sales Ops & Admin Specialist, you will ensure accurate and timely execution of the day-to-day sequence of processes in the sale and distribution of Thungelas suite of products, across all geographies, in compliance with relevant standards & regulatory requirements.More of your responsibilities will include:
Ensuring accurate system entry of contracts (including related distribution agreements) through the lifecycle while working closely with the Marketing management team to monitor contract performance
Monitoring customers credit and contractual positions prior to execution of delivery or release of product as well as ensuring letters of credit are in line with required timeline and banking requirements
Ensuring timely escalations of any deviations from plans to the relevant parties and ensure closure thereof
Owning the organising documentary and coordinating of shipping formalities regarding the loading of product at the loading point or discharging of product at the receiving point
Ensuring the accurate and timely billing of Thungela traded and sundry sales as well as receipt of monies, including the consideration of dispute and quality settlements
Administer logistics contracts and ancillary activities, including the coordination of reconciled tonnes, bill of lading dates, demurrage dispatch and related invoices
Providing the ISOP (Integrated Sales and Operations Planning) team and marketing managers with market intelligence as collated in day-to-day activities
Overall responsibility for ensuring that customer applications and documents in relation to trade finance instruments are issued in compliance with Thungelas credit and risk standards
Coordinating and optimising trade documentation flow between banks and customers to reduce costs for Thungela and provide flexibility for Thungelas customers
Adhering to work standard and understands the purpose and functionality of controls relevant to their work
Monitoring and managing accounts receivables/payables for respective export coal contracts through the necessary payment follow-ups of counterparties
Monitoring and collaborating with the Integrated Sales Operation Planning team to communicate and follow up on customers shipping schedules, ensuring alignment to forecast and schedules as well as in-full and on-time delivery to customers
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree / B-Tech in Marketing, Commerce, Finance or related discipline (NQF level 7) or UAE equivalent.
Experience
Minimum of 6 years experience in export physical sales and marketing / trading, preferably in commodities or in the mining industry
2 years experience in negotiating, advising, and managing trade finance instruments such as Letter of Credit, Stand-By Letters of Credit
2 years SAP ERP functional and or end user experience, preferably in following modules: contract, purchase and sales order management, transportation management, commodity trading and risk management
Practice in Port export operations including movement of Bulk products
Experience and sound understanding of Incoterms and their applicability
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, contract management and data filing and administration systems and structures
Additional Information
Advanced knowledge of export sales operations and trade finance instruments
SCoTA experience is advantageous
Proficient understanding of process analysis, planning and monitoring, reporting techniques and practices
Proficient knowledge of contract management, data analysis and reporting techniques, processes and tools
Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct, possess good communication and negotiation skills, demonstrating the ability to maintain relationships with range of culturally diverse- cross functional stakeholders
Ability to work under pressure, maintain composure, set priorities, support and collaborate with Thungelas global team to deliver on commitments and achieve organizational targets
Strong English language written and oral communication skills
