It is one of the largest pure-play producers and exporters of thermal coal in South Africa and has also a presence in Australia. Thungela focuses on exporting its coal portfolio to all major regions around the world.As the Export Sales Ops & Admin Specialist, you will ensure accurate and timely execution of the day-to-day sequence of processes in the sale and distribution of Thungelas suite of products, across all geographies, in compliance with relevant standards & regulatory requirements.More of your responsibilities will include:
Execution of shipments including load port laycan planning, establishing letters of credit, monitoring of vessel and vessel nomination, shipping and or documentary instructions, insurance declaration, load port/discharge operations, shipping LOI
Accountable for all aspects of trade finance activities, including sourcing, allocating, utilizing trade finance facilities, and negotiating to safeguard against payment performance risks
Manage trade finance activities, particularly with instruments relating to documentary credits such as letters of credit, stand-by letter of credit, and ensure full operative instruments are in place and in control for clean presentation of documents for prompt receipt of payments
Coordinating and facilitating communication and documentation flow, proactively highlighting risks or issues related to the execution of shipments to the stakeholders (not limited to): port logistics, port agents, inspection agencies, risk management, finance, banks, and customers
Monitoring and analyzing customer credit and contractual positions before execution of deliveries and release of products
Ensure the accurate and timely billing of Thungela traded and sundry sales, including dispute resolutions and quality settlements, shipment demurrage, or despatch-related billing
Monitoring accounts receivables/payables for export coal contracts underlying deliveries through necessary follow-ups with customers, including payment or receipt of monies, to ensure seamless debt and cash flow management
Embeds the use of SAP CTRM and Thungela's IT solutions, tools, and reports about data integrity, as well as the capture and storage of information for record-keeping and audit purposes
Monitoring and collaborating with the Integrated Supply and Operation Planning team to communicate and follow up on customers\' shipping schedules, ensuring alignment to forecast and schedules as well as in-full and on-time delivery to customers
Maintain a good working relationship with customers, internal and external stakeholders by adhering to work standards, understanding the purpose and functionality of the applicable controls, tasks, and accountabilities for effective execution the responsibilities relevant to the SOAS function.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree / B-Tech in Marketing, Commerce, Finance, or related discipline (NQF level 7) or UAE equivalent
Experience & Knowledge
Minimum of 6 years experience in export physical sales and marketing / trading, preferably in commodities or in the mining industry
Experience in Port export operations including bulk movement of products
Experience in Freight on Board (FOB)
Cost and Freight (CFR) experience (advantage)
Extensive experience in the various methods of Payment used in commodity trading, including but not limited to confirming LCs DocLC, SBLC, CACD and Open Terms
Ability to prepare LC templates for Thungelas banks as well as checking LC drafts from Buyers
Additional Information
Bulk or Metals operational knowledge and experience are a must
Good knowledge of various trade finance instruments Incoterms, UCP rules and Freight (ScoTA is an added advantage)
Advanced knowledge of export sales operations
Proficient understanding of process analysis, planning and monitoring and reporting techniques and practices
Proficient knowledge of contract management
Proficient knowledge of data analysis and reporting techniques, processes and tools
Proficient knowledge of stakeholder management
Proficient knowledge of dealing with variable volumes, constantly evolving customer relations, as well as term supply relationships
