Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for an Explosion Protection (EP) Application Specialist position. Fike is a privately held business with over 1,200 employees worldwide.
Summary: The Application Specialist will use their electrical and mechanical knowledge to help size, select, design, and support Explosion Protection with our in-house team and sales partners. They will perform routine work following prescriptive methods and will apply routine application design to both NFPA and Atex standards and legislation. In order to perform a broad range of varied and demanding assignments within the applications area, work requires the application of a comprehensive knowledge of systems, procedures, customers, products and processes. They will support field service operations with scheduling and co-ordination. They will assist with planning, executing, problem solving, and information gathering for services visits. Managing schedules and coordinating support to satisfy customer needs. Performs a high level of administrative work, including researching, compiling, organizing, tracking, and updating, and also provide functional guidance and technical support as needed. They will work closely with internal departments and customers to relay information and provide updates on design, service, technical and support topics.
Primary - EP Design, Technical Support and Pre-Commissioning Support (In-house, with occasional customer site visits):
Provides application, design, installation, and troubleshooting consultation to Fike customers and internal teams. Maintains detailed knowledge of Fike products, applications, services, policies, procedures, related standards and legislation. Prepares documentation and design submittal packages for Fike Customers. Reviews and analyses complex data on customers specific applications to provide appropriate solutions to through design calculations, product and material selection, and make evaluations or recommendations. Participates in emergency assistance calls and emails to provide prompt, courteous technical support. Utilizes Fike internal systems to carry out daily tasks and support (CRM, CPQ, calculation tools, ERP, etc.). Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed and quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards. Research complex issues and coordinates problem resolution with appropriate personnel. Effectively articulates value and integration of our product within a customers specific application and provide support. Works under general supervision the field services manager. Gathers information to resolve issues ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to Fike policies. Gathers data for nonstandard design evaluation. Supports customers with installation guidelines, equipment specifications and technical support through the pre-commissioning stage. Train and demonstrate Fike equipment to service partners and Fike customers.

Conducts continuous planning based upon field service forecast, service resource capacity and customer requirements. Utilizes field service management system to schedule, manage and support the service team. Maintains primary contact responsibility with customers and the service team to resolve scheduling conflicts and other work order related issues. Research opportunities and assign customer courtesy visits to schedule service visits. Develops and maintains service key performance indicators. Optimizes service technician utilization rates. Communicate with the sales department regarding change of PO scope, customer parts requests, service team recommended or consumed parts.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit and use hands. Must be able to travel for consecutive days.
Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in related field. Comfortable working with mechanical and electrical technical data, drawings, and industry standards. Ability to translate customer or end-user applications and problems; collect, verify and interpretate data; establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Demonstrated knowledge of customer service and technical support functions. Basic knowledge of product applications. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Fluent in English, both verbal and written. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Solid organization, time management, prioritization, and attention to detail. Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time, primarily regionally (Africa, Middle East, India and Pakistan), occasional travel to Europe and US for training, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications: Two or more years of experience in project management, design, engineering, pressure relief, explosion protection, fire protection. Knowledge of NFPA, Atex and IECEx standards and zoning. Knowledge of industrial processed related to petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food processing sectors. Experience with AutoCAD or 3D modelling or Computational fluid dynamics modelling. Proficient knowledge of Arabic, Hindi, French, or any other language.
