The Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and project budgets for high-performance opening solutions (including doors, windows, facades, screens, ironmongery, seals, specialty glass, ACP wall, roofing, and flooring), architectural metal solutions (including ceilings, cladding, lighting fixtures), metal profile solutions, and access panels. This role involves analyzing project specifications, conducting material take-offs, and coordinating with suppliers and internal departments to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Estimate Preparation:
Review and analyze project specifications, drawings, and requirements to understand the scope of work for each project.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for high-performance opening solutions, architectural metal solutions, and metal profile solutions, ensuring all aspects of material and labor are considered.
Develop estimates for access panels and specialty items, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client requirements.
2. Cost Analysis and Budgeting:
Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs to provide a comprehensive budget breakdown for each project phase.
Utilize cost estimation tools and software to ensure precision in budgeting.
Adjust and update cost projections as project scope or material prices change.
3. Supplier Coordination:
Source and liaise with suppliers for materials related to doors, windows, facades, and architectural metal finishes.
Obtain quotes and negotiate prices to maintain project cost-efficiency.
Establish relationships with vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of specialty items, ironmongery, and seals.
4. Project Take-Offs:
Conduct detailed quantity take-offs for various materials required in high-performance openings, metal solutions, and access panels.
Prepare bill of quantities (BOQ) with detailed descriptions and units of measurement for accurate budgeting and procurement.
5. Bid Proposals:
Compile and submit bid proposals, including cost estimates, project schedules, and supporting documents.
Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to prepare client presentations and explain cost breakdowns.
Ensure compliance with client specifications and standards in bid documents.
6. Risk Assessment:
Identify potential risks in the project scope and provide insights on pricing contingencies.
Advise on cost-impacting factors, including lead times, material availability, and industry pricing trends.
7. Technical Support:
Provide technical support to project managers and field teams by clarifying project specifications and cost assumptions.
Assist in change order management, ensuring adjustments to scope and budget are accurately documented.
8. Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain organized records of all estimates, quotations, and supplier communications.
Prepare periodic estimation reports and analyze estimation accuracy on completed projects for continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Industrial engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience as an estimator in construction, architectural metal solutions, or similar field.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in estimation software, Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD,3D Modeling , Building Information Modeling (BIM), Rendering Software, and construction management software.
