The Role
Cost Estimation and Analysis o Develop detailed cost estimates for furniture and joinery projects, covering materials, labor, and overheads. o Review project plans, designs, and client needs to ensure accurate cost calculations. o Monitor market trends to anticipate price fluctuations in materials and labor. o Assess project risks and develop contingency plans for potential cost overruns or delays. Team Management and Supervision o Lead the estimation team to ensure quality work and timely delivery. o Provide guidance and mentorship to enhance team performance. o Implement strategies to improve team productivity and efficiency. Contract Review and Analysis o Review contracts to assess cost implications and ensure alignment with estimates. o Identify risks and opportunities within contract terms and conditions. Coordination with Procurement and Logistics o Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams for accurate costings and material delivery. o Work with departments to establish standard costing principles and improve efficiency. Collaboration and Coordination o Ensure estimates align with design intentions and project timelines. o Confirm design feasibility with production managers from a cost and execution perspective. o Partner with procurement teams for timely sourcing of materials and components. Supplier and Subcontractor Management o Identify and evaluate suppliers for cost-effective procurement. o Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers and subcontractors to integrate their costs into estimates. Bid Preparation and Presentation o Prepare competitive bid proposals while maintaining profitability. o Present cost breakdowns to clients and internal stakeholders, addressing queries. Budget Monitoring and Reporting o Monitor project costs to ensure adherence to budgets. o Prepare variance reports and suggest cost-reduction improvements. o Maintain accurate financial records for estimates and project costs. Quality Assurance o Ensure estimates meet industry standards, project quality requirements, and client specifications. o Verify that materials and processes align with quality expectations.
Requirements
Required Skills: o Expertise in cost estimation and project budgeting. o Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and specialized estimation software. o Strong analytical skills for evaluating project specifications and material costs. o Excellent communication and leadership skills for managing teams and collaborating with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders. o Ability to review and interpret contract terms and conditions. o Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work. Preferred Skills: o Knowledge of joinery and FF&E production processes and materials. o Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements. o Certifications in cost estimation or project management (e.g., Certified Estimator, PMP).
