The role: WKC is offering opportunities to mid-level level applicants hoping to join an offshore role in the UAE. The role will be based in Abu Dhabi with a focus on offering support to WKC's on site assurance services, including site inspections, internal audit, environmental monitoring, performance reporting, toolbox talks, and environmental awareness training for on site contractors. The position will be one of a team of three located at an offshore oil and gas facility.
Hours: Work period will be 8 hours per day, 7 days per week. Rotation will be 3 months on duty, and 1 month on shore leave for every 4 months of work. The contract will be renewed on an annual basis.
Responsibilities:
• Lead on-site daily and weekly inspections including, waste management, air quality, dust observations, as per CEMP inspection checklist.
• Participate in daily toolbox talks, and lead site specific environmental awareness training for contractors on site.
• Participate in internal environmental audits on a monthly basis.
• Conduct environmental monitoring as per CEMP requirements, may include water quality, noise, marine mammal and reptile, marine ecology monitoring.
• Conduct environmental performance reporting to project Company and environmental regulator.
• Support WKC ecologists (terrestrial and/or marine) conducting field surveys, including:
+ Benthic habitat identification;
+ MMRO
+ Water quality sampling
+ Sediment quality sampling
+ Habitat health assessment (e.g. seagrass and coral)
+ Turtle nesting and hatching surveys
+ Drop down video transects
Candidate Requirements;
• Bachelor of Science (BSc) (in relevant marine related discipline e.g. marine biology, oceanography, fisheries management, ecology, zoology);
• More than 5 years experience (work or research experience) in field studies;
• Experience with on site assurance work (inspections, audit etc.)
• Experience with environmental monitoring of a marine nature;
• Excellent report writing skills for preparation of technical reports;
• Understanding of Abu Dhabi Environmental Regulations;
• Ability to interface with clients;
• Fluent English speaker;

• ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System, Lead Auditor Qualifications;
• ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System, Lead Auditor;
• UAE Driver's licence;
• UAE skipper's licence;
• MMRO Training and accreditation.
• SCUBA accreditation (e.g. PADI, NAUI, SSI)
