Overview:
The Environmental Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating environmental compliance and sustainability efforts within the project or organization. This role involves ensuring adherence to environmental regulations, conducting assessments, and implementing environmental protection measures. The Environmental Coordinator will work closely with various teams to promote best practices in environmental management and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental regulations and standards applicable to the project.
Conduct environmental impact assessments and audits to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
Develop and implement environmental management plans, including waste management, pollution prevention, and resource conservation strategies.
Provide guidance and support to project teams on environmental best practices and compliance requirements.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders for necessary permits, reporting, and inspections.
Track and report on environmental performance metrics, including emissions, waste generation, and resource usage.
Promote environmental awareness and training programs for employees to foster a culture of sustainability and compliance.
Investigate environmental incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Assist in the preparation of environmental documentation, including reports, permits, and project-specific environmental plans.
Support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives to minimize the environmental footprint of operations. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:
Certification in environmental management (e.g., ISO 14001 Lead Auditor) or related field is preferred.
Proficiency in environmental management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Years of Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental management or a related field. Technical Knowledge:
Environmental Regulations and Compliance: Strong knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and standards, including environmental impact assessment processes, pollution control measures, and sustainability best practices.
Environmental Management Systems: Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental management systems, including ISO 14001 or equivalent frameworks.
