About the Job:
Reviews drilling proposals, liaise with the drilling function to have the DOF requirements input into
drilling/workover programs, surface and down-hole equipment requirements in line with the DOF programme.
Key Accountabilities:
Reviews drilling proposals in liaisons with geologists and other engineers in Field Development to establish formation levels and pressures, numbers, type and objectives of wells to be drilled, casing, seating depths, completion types in line with DOF programme.
Reviews detailed drilling/workover related programs. Includes details of geological formation depths and type (dolomite and limestone), casing and logging programs, deviations and associated listing of wellhead equipment.
Reviews surface and down-hole equipment requirements and ensure alignment with DOF programme.
Advises on alternative drilling methods and equipment covering choice of; turbo drilling, mud type, tool bit, casing specifications, packer/BP specifications, Christmas tree specifications, directional equipment and fishing tools.
Carries out optimization studies in coordination with drilling team on tools, equipment and operations. Includes bit record, nozzle sizes, drilling speed, bit condition, casing, etc. Determine the most economical drilling and workover methods and tools to be used.
Monitors operational procedures and techniques. Recommends changes for improvement in line with DOF programme.
Verifies incurred costs of wells in comparison with the set estimates. Analyses the reasons for any over or under expenditure and initiates required corrective procedures to revise the estimates and/or amend approved budget.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Engineering, plus relevant advanced courses in Drilling/Completion/Directional Drilling and Blow Out prevention methods and well control certification and DOF technologies.
8 years\' drilling/workover engineering experience with specific emphasis on drilling and methods relevant to the DOF technologies and subsurface measurements tools.
