Duties and responsibilities of an Electrical Draftsman company who can also perform quantity surveying, and possesses knowledge of DEWA standards and regulations as well as IEC standards may include:
1. Drafting and Design:
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
• Ensure compliance with DEWA standards and regulations, as well as IEC standards, in all design and drafting work.
• Collaborate with project managers and Engineers to understand project requirements and specifications.
• Incorporate necessary design changes and modifications based on project feedback and revisions.
• Create and maintain a library of electrical design templates, symbols, and standard details.
• Detailed knowledge in preparing load schedule and single line diagrams.
• Utilize AutoCAD software to create, modify, and finalize electrical drawings, schematics, and plans.
• Ensure accurate scaling, layering, and dimensioning of drawings in accordance with industry standards and company guidelines.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD's electrical design features, such as symbol libraries and specialized tools for electrical layouts.
• Generate 2D representations of electrical systems and components as required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to AutoCAD usage.
2. Quantity Surveying:
• Perform quantity take-offs and measurements for electrical materials and components required in project plans.
• Estimate quantities, costs, and budgets for electrical works, including cables, conduits, switchgear, and other equipment.
• Prepare and submit detailed bills of quantities (BOQs) and cost estimates for tendering and bidding purposes.
• Collaborate with procurement teams to identify suitable suppliers and obtain competitive pricing for electrical materials.
• Monitor and track actual project costs against estimated budgets and provide regular reports to management.
3. Compliance and Documentation:
• Ensure that all electrical designs and installations adhere to DEWA standards, regulations, and guidelines.
• Review project documentation, including specifications, drawings, and contracts, to identify potential compliance issues.
• Liaise with relevant authorities and obtain necessary permits and approvals for electrical installations.
• Prepare and submit as-built drawings and documentation upon project completion.
• Maintain accurate records of design changes, project variations, and approvals for future reference.
