Role Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Data Center Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at PTS Consulting Middle East. This role involves the meticulous design and optimization of electrical infrastructures for major data center projects, ensuring optimal functionality and adherence to global standards. The position is based onsite, and the engineer will play a pivotal role in both the conceptual and practical phases of project development.
Technical Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 7-10 years of solid experience in MEP designs, with substantial exposure to data center projects.
• Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) certification from the Uptime Institute preferred.
• Proficient in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SKM Power Tools.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical systems in data centers including power distribution, redundancy, and load management.
• Demonstrated experience with the construction procedures of data centers, technical submittals review, and site inspection visits.
• Previous experience in designing electrical systems for hyperscale data centers is highly preferred.
• Proficient in performing necessary data center Load Calculations and analysis such as Power Supply and Distribution Calculations, Fault Current Calculations, Voltage Drop Calculations, Harmonics Analysis, Cooling Load Calculations, Battery Backup Calculations, Energy Efficiency Calculations, SPOF analysis, Grounding and Bonding Calculations, Lighting Calculations
• Good knowledge of relevant standards such IEEE, NFPA, ASHRAE, IEC, Uptime Institute, ISO/IEC Standards, TIA, BSI.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English

Responsibilities:
• Electrical System Design and Development: Spearhead the planning and design of all electrical systems for new data center projects and upgrades, focusing on achieving optimal reliability, scalability, and energy efficiency. Ensure that designs adhere to the latest industry standards and client specifications.
• Integration and Coordination: Collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and IT specialists to integrate electrical systems seamlessly. Ensure that the electrical design complements other systems and meets the overall strategic goals of the data center infrastructure.
• Innovative Solutions and Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek innovative solutions for electrical system design and implementation to enhance efficiency and sustainability. Stay updated with the latest technological advancements and incorporate best practices into project workflows.
• Technical Documentation and Submittals: Prepare comprehensive documentation, including detailed design drawings, schematics, and specifications. Manage the submission and approval process of all technical documents and ensure they meet regulatory compliance and client expectations.
• Project Management and Oversight: Oversee the electrical aspects of data center construction projects from inception through completion. This includes managing timelines, resources, and budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within cost constraints.
• Quality Assurance and Control: Implement rigorous testing and quality assurance practices to validate the performance and reliability of electrical installations. Address any discrepancies or deviations from plans and specifications.
• Site Inspections and Compliance: Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the progress and adherence to plans. Ensure that all installations meet the safety standards and operational requirements. Actively engage in troubleshooting and resolving on-site challenges as they arise.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies. Ensure that all parties are kept informed of project status, milestones, and changes.
• Team Collaboration and Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and other technical staff. Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages knowledge sharing and skill development among the team.
• Be part of the Tender management team in charge of electrical discipline, Preparing RFP, Identifying qualified contractors and vendors, Tender Issuance, Tender Clarification, Tender evaluation, attending clients meeting and tender finalization.
