EV/Hybrid Mechanic Automotive Technician Overview of the role: To deal with the inspection, diagnosing and repair of electric & hybrid vehicles using advanced diagnostic tools to identify the source of problems and repair vehicles using Fix It Right process, to provide unique customer experience in order to improve customer retention in compliance with OEM standards. What you will do:
Diagnose complex system faults through to preventive maintenance on electric mobility brand.
Support, coach and guide other members of the team in the workshop by advising diagnosis procedures and efficient / correct work procedures
Ensuring quality by producing extremely low level of return/repeat jobs
Developing high level of communication by ensuring clear explanation of the work completed or required is well documented and clear to understand by Service Advisor, Technical Advisor, Technical Support and the Customer.
Undertake great effort to improve efficiency by providing constructive inputs regarding work process, procedure, work environment, tools and equipment etc.
To make electric mobility brand safe to be worked on by junior technicians.
Provide technical input to spare parts staff to assist in correct part and tooling identification and supply.
Maintain safe work environment for anyone work on or near electric mobility brand, working closely with HSSE and providing recommendations as required.
Required skills to be successful:
Ability to operate without direct supervision
A high-level of understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
An appreciation of high-voltage systems and the safety required to operate with them
Very organised in approach with the skills to plan and share data on progress
Strong IT skills and interested in working with mechanical and electric vehicles systems and excellent skills in supporting less experienced technicians
About the Team: This role will be reporting directly to workshop manager / Supervisor. What equips you for the role:
Technical certification diploma, ITI, ATA, IMI or equivalent
IMI EV Level 3 or 4 - Advantage / Priority
Master Technician certification or industry equivalent
In depth knowledge and experience of EV components and systems both high and low voltage
5-7 years experience as Diagnostic Technician, retail automotive experience.
