Job Description

Job Purpose:

Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and precise technical drawings, diagrams, and schematics related to electrical and instrumentation systems in industrial settings.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Create and update electrical and instrumentation drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
• Maintain organized records of all drawings and ensure they are up-to-date with any changes or revisions.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, E&I technicians, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into accurate technical drawings.
• Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of drawings to ensure they conform to industry standards, company specifications, and safety codes.
• Ensure that all drawings and documentation comply with relevant electrical and instrumentation codes, standards, and regulations.
• Specify and list materials, components, and equipment needed for E&I projects.
• Provide drawing support during project planning, execution, and maintenance phases.
• Stay current with CAD software updates and utilize the latest tools and features to improve drawing efficiency and accuracy.
• Prepare E&I drawings-related procedures, schedules, data sheets, and calculation designs.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Promote and adhere to safety protocols, including compliance with safety codes and regulations.
• Assist in the training and mentoring of junior draughtsmen or technicians.

Key Competencies:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar programs.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems and components.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in technical drawings.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Pre Requisites:

• Diploma or Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an E&I Draughtsman, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with electrical symbols, conventions, and terminology.
