Job Description

Expertise France is the public agency for designing and implementing international technical cooperation projects. The agency operates around four key priorities :

democratic, economic, and financial governance ; peace, stability, and security ; climate, agriculture, and sustainable development ; health and human development ;

In these areas, Expertise France conducts capacity-building initiatives and manages project implementation, leveraging technical expertise and acting as a project coordinator. This involves combining public sector expertise with private sector skills to drive impactful results.



Under the supervision of the Communication Manager and Communication Officer based in Chisinau (Moldova), the experts are responsible for professional editing of various communication materials in Ukrainian and Armenian languages.


The role requires a high degree of autonomy and interpersonal skills suitable for an international and multicultural environment.


Objectives and tasks


1. Write, edit, and proofread materials such as short social media posts, press releases, feature stories, human-interest articles, newsletters, presentations, speeches, and comprehensive reports.


2. The editor will ensure that all content meets the highest editorial standards, including:

copyediting, proofreading

, and filling in any gaps in information, restructuring, or rewriting sections as necessary. Correct spelling, grammar, syntax, and punctuation while ensuring culturally sensitive and contextually appropriate language use. Adherence to

a consistent style and formatting guidelines

throughout the documents, including alignment with the project's branding and style guide (if applicable). Elimination of repetition, redundancies, and inconsistencies in the text. Ensure compliance with the project's and donors' communication protocols and guidelines. Adapt and refine content to fit the cultural and linguistic nuances of Ukrainian and Armenian audiences while retaining the intended meaning and tone. Ensure inclusivity, avoiding language that could be offensive or exclusionary.

2.2. Expected deliverables


Edited and proofread materials such as short social media posts, press releases, feature stories, human-interest articles, newsletters, presentations, speeches, and comprehensive reports.

The engagement will be task-based, with an expected workload defined based on the project's needs and communication priorities.

The expert will work on a task order basis and must provide the project with deliverables describing his involvement in the implementation of this service.

The

EU4innovation East project

is driving a transformation in economic resilience and innovation, enhancing the competitiveness of the startup ecosystem within 5 countries of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) region: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. At the heart of the project is a strategy designed to nurture high-performance incubators, expand funding and market opportunities for startups, and provide tailored support to Ukraine's emerging tech sector. Through strategic co-financing, skills development, regulatory assistance, and a strong commitment to gender inclusion, EU4InnovationEast is laying the foundation for sustainable, long-term growth in the region, ensuring that innovation is both inclusive and impactful. The EU4Innovation East project is implemented by Expertise France, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the French government.


In order to ensure high quality and accuracy of its communication and knowledge products in local languages, Expertise France is looking for editors or Armenian and Ukrainian languages to provide professional writing, editing, and proofreading services to ensure high-quality content across a variety of communication materials produced within the framework of the project.

The consultants can perform the tasks remotely. One editor per language will be selected.

Strengthen the competitiveness and maturity of the EaP startup ecosystem



Specific


Objectives:

SO1:

Enhance early-stage funding access for EaP startups, especially those led or co-founded by women, by creating a new funding mechanism and improving incubation programs, including technology transfer initiatives.


SO2:

Foster innovation development in EaP ecosystems by structuring and improving the business environment.

SO3:

Amplify the visibility of EaP startups and strengthen connections with European investors, fostering both funding acquisition, market access, and increased local interest in the entrepreneurial journey.


SO Ukraine:

Formulate a customised strategy for Ukraine, integrating French co-financing, to navigate and capitalise upon the distinctive challenges and opportunities encountered by the Ukrainian startup ecosystem during the ongoing reconstruction period.

Master's degree in languages, journalism, philology, or a related field is required; A Bachelor's degree

may be accepted

in lieu of a Master's degree, provided there is an additional two years of professional experience; Native-level proficiency in Ukrainian/Armenian languages with excellent command of written and spoken English. Proven experience of at least 3 years in editing, writing, and proofreading, particularly in the context of international development, donor-funded projects, or media. Experience in writing and editing materials on tech, startups and innovation will be an asset.

Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities


Strong knowledge of editorial standards and guidelines. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work under tight deadlines. Familiarity with cultural nuances, language trends, and communication styles specific to Ukrainian/Armenian audiences.
