EAL CoordinatorThe British International School Abu Dhabi is looking to appoint an outstanding EAL Coordinator to join a well-established and supportive team in a highly successful and expanding school.The closing date for applications is 23rd May 2024.About the RoleAt BISAD we pride ourselves on our individualised EAL provision, and have built a substantial whole-school team of trained EAL SSAs, TAs, and Specialist TAs to carry out the important work of supporting our EAL learners. The role of the EAL Coordinator is to manage this team, coordinating and quality assuring support for pupils with EAL across the school and contributing to raising the educational achievement of these pupils by working in sustained collaboration with teaching staff and parents. The EAL Coordinator will have both teaching and management duties; furthermore, the successful applicant will be able to work effectively with various stakeholders across the school, including Finance, SLT/PLT, year groups, subject departments, Marketing and Admissions.About YouThe ideal candidate will be expected to:
Manage and coordinate an effective team of Student Support Assistants, Teaching Assistants and Specialist Teaching Assistants
Advise on and implement appropriate strategies for developing EAL for individual students
Work as part of the Inclusion team and collaborate with department and year group teams to meet student needs
Manage departmental subscription to EAL admissions assessments and ensure appropriate use by the Admissions team in collaboration with the Head of Admissions
Collaborate with Admissions and Finance teams in the administration of our paretn funded SEALL (Supported EAL Learners) Pathway
Monitor, record and review pupil progress and ensure that the provision being made remains appropriate to pupils identified.
Maintain existing resources as well as explore opportunities to develop new resources and strategies for students with EAL.
Deliver specialist EAL support to small groups of students.
The ideal candidate will have:
Degree level education and/or relevent EAL teaching qualification and experience
Strong background working with both Primary and Secondary age students
Evidence of effectively managing and delegating in a leadership role
