The Draftsman for Modular Prefabrication is responsible for creating accurate and detailed technical drawings and plans for modular prefabricated structures, including but not limited to modular buildings, prefabricated units, and POD systems. This role involves working closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure designs meet project specifications and are optimized for manufacturing and installation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Technical Drawing Creation:
• Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings for modular prefabricated units, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and assembly details.
• Develop fabrication and installation drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
• Incorporate structural, electrical, and mechanical requirements into the drawings, coordinating with respective engineering teams.
• Design Optimization:
• Work with engineers to optimize designs for ease of manufacturing, transportation, and installation.
• Ensure modular components are accurately dimensioned and align with standard prefabrication practices for modular structures.
• Project Coordination:
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements and design intent.
• Update and revise drawings based on project changes, client feedback, or engineering input.
• Quality Assurance:
• Conduct regular reviews of drawings for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to project specifications.
• Maintain a high standard of precision in all drawings, minimizing errors that could impact the production or assembly phases.
• Documentation and Record Keeping:
• Organize and maintain all project drawings, specifications, and related documents.
• Ensure all drawings are saved in appropriate formats and follow company naming conventions and document control standards.
• Software Proficiency:
• Utilize CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Revit, for preparing detailed modular structure drawings.
• Use 3D modeling software, such as SketchUp or SolidWorks, for visualization and presentation purposes when required.
• Code Compliance and Standards:
• Stay updated on relevant building codes, prefabrication standards, and regulations.
• Ensure all drawings meet local and international standards for modular structures.
Qualifications:
• Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in drafting, preferably in modular prefabrication, POD systems, or industrial building design.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other CAD software; experience with 3D modeling software is a plus.
• Knowledge: Understanding of modular construction techniques, materials, and prefabrication processes.
