Role Summary


The Product Design Director for talabat's Shopping and Growth tribe is a strategic leader responsible for shaping the user experience and driving growth within the product. This role involves leading the design strategy, managing teams of senior managers and designers, innovating solutions to enhance usability and satisfaction, advocating for user-centered design, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful design solutions and business impact.

Interaction Design


Shapes the flow and behavior of the shopping platform and monetization of the product to enhance usability and satisfaction.

• Critical Competencies:


+ Design Patterns & UX Principles: Applying and understanding them effectively within the product.
+ Information Architecture: Organizing and relating information across the shopping platform with consideration of critical growth products.
+ Content: Defining content types and structure tailored to specific markets within the shopping platform with consideration of growth products and monetization opportunities
+ Prototypes: Creating prototypes at various fidelity levels to communicate design concepts within the Shopping and Growth tribes.


Proficiency Level:

• Proposes innovative solutions, showcasing strong understanding of the shopping and growth specific products
• Leads teams responsible for designing comple x interactions, managing their complexity within the Shopping and Growth products.
• Defines and advocates standards for content quality within the Shopping and Growth products as well as the wider product portfolio.
• Manages and leads teams of senior managers and senior designers to ensure alignment and support within the Shopping and Growth tribe is well delivered

Visual Design


Defines the presentation layers of the Shopping and Growth products in line with the brand.

Draws on users' needs, feelings, contexts, and mindsets to design end-to-end experiences within the shopping platform and considers critical monetization and growth products as part of the thinking

Identifies and understands underlying issues or challenges within the Shopping and Growth products.

What Did We Order?


Preferred candidates will be:


Work experience:

• Leadership Experience within the field of product design or user experience, ideally with a proven track record of successfully leading design teams and driving strategic initiatives.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in product design, user experience design, interaction design, or a related field.
• Previous experience working in the e-commerce or technology industry is highly desirable, as it provides insights into the unique challenges and opportunities within the digital product landscape.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, marketing, and data analytics, to deliver impactful design solutions.
• A strong portfolio showcasing a history of successful design projects, including examples of innovative solutions, user-centered design approaches, and measurable impact on business goals.
• Experience in mentoring and developing design talent, as well as fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.


Technical Background:

• Proficiency in Design Tools: Mastery of design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, or similar tools is essential for creating prototypes and design assets.
• Understanding of Front-End Development: While not necessarily a requirement, having a basic understanding of front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) can be advantageous in collaborating effectively with engineering teams.
• Knowledge of Design Systems: Experience in developing and maintaining design systems to ensure consistency and scalability across products.
• Familiarity with UX Research Methods: Understanding of various UX research methods, such as user interviews, usability testing, and user journey mapping, to inform design decisions.
• Educational Background:
• Masters degree in Design or related field: interaction design, user experience design, or a related field
• Continuous Learning: Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in the field of product design and user experience.
