Job Description

:Spearhead the Finance function by directing the Insurance client\'s financial resources and providing strategic financial expertise to enable the Client to attain its short and long-term financial operating objectives in accordance to established financial standards and protocols.ResponsibilitesStrategic
  • Participate in and contribute to the development of the Client\'s corporate strategy formulation with senior management, providing a strategic financial perspective to ensure the strategy is implementable and realistic.
  • Define the corporate financial strategy in alignment with the Client\'s corporate strategy, business direction and desired future state.
  • Develop financial standards and controls to be followed across the Client in alignment with best practice accounting and treasury standards, to ensure the Client is compliant with all required statutory and legal requirements.
Tactical
  • Consolidate the annual financial budget for the organization and oversee the preparation of budgets in alignment with the organizational plans.
  • Lead the budget planning activity for the Client and set the framework for annual business planning and budgeting for all business units based on inputs derived from identification of demand and revenue and cost drivers, ensuring alignment with the strategic plan.
  • Provide key strategic financial advice and recommendations to the CEO in relation to the Client\'s financial performance, allowing for better reporting and communication to be facilitated to the Board of Directors and senior management.
  • Establish framework and processes for efficient and effective management of the Client\'s finances through all necessary financial controls to ensure accuracy and maintenance of the organization\'s financial records.
  • Implement effective funding strategies, enabling the Client to maintain an adequate level of liquidity in line with approved business plans and operating objectives.
  • Ensure the robustness of established financial methodologies, tools and systems administered within the Client to allow for better financial management and control, supporting existing business unit activities and future growth plans, in line with the Client\'s long-term objectives and aspirations.
  • Create a framework for monitoring business unit performance against the budget in order to identify forecasting metrics to assist in decision making.
  • Formulate and oversee implementation of a rigorous risk management strategy in conjunction with the Director of Risk to ensure all Etihad Credit Insurance financial risks are being accounted for and proper action plans are being developed and administered to mitigate those risks, in line with approved policies and procedures.
  • Remain abreast of leading financial practices and trends in the industry and make recommendations to management coupled with suitable action plans to enhance existing financial processes and to better position the Client from a financial perspective.
  • Establish a framework for cash management under the Client in order to ensure adequate company cash flow.
  • Establish fund management for the Client\'s funds in order to optimize utilization and maintain outstanding balance within assigned limits.
Operational
  • Review all finance related policies and procedures and oversee policy administration to ensure governance and compliance is continuously maintained in line with established financial controls and measures, allowing the Client to reduce its financial liabilities.
  • Review generated financial reports and analyze reported results to determine Etihad Credit Insurance\'s financial status and report to management key highlights and challenges in relation to Etihad Credit Insurance\'s cash flow, profit and loss accounts and balance sheets to allow management to make informed business decisions.
  • Monitor the Client\'s annual operating budget in line with the approved business plan and continuously track business unit spending to ensure all corporate targets and objectives are met in a timely manner.
  • Monitor cost distribution and exercise necessary budgetary controls on all costs incurred through internal and external business operations, ensuring that they comply with the set budgets.
  • Monitor the preparation of overall budgets, mid-year and annual forecasts and cost accounting processes for the Client based on inputs derived from past performance and the strategic direction of the organization to ensure the disbursement of the budget is in adherence to established financial plan.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheet and cash flow statements in accordance with established financial accounting standards and statutory and legal requirements.
  • Oversee the financial maintenance of required liquidity and monitor the asset and liability position in line with the established risk management and investment guidelines.
  • Monitor all investment activities in avenues such as deposits, bonds, structured investments, funds, etc. to ensure efficient management of the Client\'s funds.
People Management
  • Define goals and key performance indicators for direct reports to ensure effective application of the the Client performance and development review process.
  • Ensure high level of employee engagement and capability development by providing on-going feedback and coaching team members within the Finance department.
  • Direct planning and selection of manpower in the Finance Department, in line with the business and operational plans.
Product / Process Improvement
  • Define the operating framework, policies and quality standards for the Finance department to follow ensuring compliance with established company policies and procedures.
  • Proactively evaluate the effectiveness of processes utilized within the Finance Department, and recommends improvements as needed in order to increase efficiency.
Education and Certification
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Finance; Master\'s degree preferred
  • Relevant certifications such as CFA / CPA / CA are required.
Experience
  • Minimum 15 years\' of experience.
  • Minimum 7 years\' in a managerial role within the finance function of an organization; preferably from the Export Credit Agency industry/Banking, Financial, Insurance institutions (Government/Private)
