talabat has a great opportunity to broaden our footprint and provide a better experience to our customers and vendors. As Director of Engineering for the Growth tribe, you will be responsible for building and leading the tribe and its respective engineering teams.


The engineering organization within our Growth tribe consists of 70+ engineers working across 8 cross-functional teams. You will be working closely with the product, design, and data leaders to identify problems & opportunities, and leverage tech solutions to serve our customers and business better. You will guide your Domain Leads and their respective teams to scope, validate, build, deploy, and maintain the solutions that will realize these opportunities. We are looking for candidates who dream big, get things done, and lead with compassion.


The role will lead the Growth tribe which is responsible for the technologies to help talabat's partners acquire and retain customers on our platform. The tribe is split into 2 domains; Monetization & Incentives (AdEx, Growth Marketing, Incentive Experience, Deal Targeting, Vendor Growth & Ops Portal) and Customer Retention (talabat Pro, Activation, Rewards).


Key Responsibilities:

• Shape the engineering vision and strategy for the Growth tribe.
• Build an environment that encourages teams to speak up, be self-organized, effective and that cultivates the culture of continuous improvement.
• Foster personal development & growth of individual
• Attract, lead and retain talent (engineering managers and engineers).
• Provides technology solutions to support business/product engineering teams in solving complex scenarios.
• Work closely with product, design, and data counterparts to shape the product vision and strategy for your product.
• Maintain close connections with technology peers from different Tribes and ensure support in cross-Tribe initiatives.
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability across the group.
• Ensure Domains and their respective teams follow best practices to deliver scalable and high-quality solutions.

Qualifications • Ability to manage multiple domains/teams and complex scopes.
• Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
• Deep understanding of engineering principles and practices (DDD, TDD, Pair/Mob Programming, CI/CD, Continuous Refactoring, etc.).
• Deep understanding of highly-effective SDLC and team practices.
• Strong experience in building distributed and high scale systems.
• Ability to find and hire the best talent.
• Ability to lead with compassion and grow other leaders.
• Ability to build relationships and enable continuous feedback channels for stakeholders from different departments.
• Ability to focus on the core, separating the noise from the essentials to deliver simple, pragmatic solutions.
• True customer mindset in every solution delivered.
