JPC- 3956Role- Director of Department - Internal Audit OfficeOperational tasks:
Supervising the preparation of operations and development plans for the scope of work of the department; and supervising the performance of its affiliated departments.
Initial approval of operational systems and procedures related to the work of the department and submitting recommendations and proposals regarding them
when they are reviewed and submitted for approval.
Initial approval of detailed budgets for the department and submitting them to the CEO for initial approval according to the approved matrix of powers.
Supervising the development of reports and proposals related to digital transformation and adopting modern best practices to improve
operations in the department and ensure their efficient implementation, enhance innovation and anticipate future opportunities.
Supervising risk management in the company and enhancing the company\'s controls and continuously monitoring and evaluating the risk environment in the organization, and updating the audit plan as necessary.
Supervising the implementation of the recommendations of the CEO and the Audit Committee through internal audit work plans.
Preparing the annual audit plan and submitting it to the CEO for review, including all activities, resources, objectives, costs and outputs necessary to achieve the objectives of internal audit and following up on its implementation after approval by the Audit Committee.
Supervising the final review of the Internal Audit Department reports and discussing them with the concerned parties from the organizational units, and ensuring their readiness in the required time and accuracy to meet the needs, policies and standards of the company.
Supervising the implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions, reviewing internal audit reports and reports, closing internal audit observations and submitting them to the CEO and the Audit Committee.
Supervising coordination work with the statutory auditors and Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority (ADAA) when needed.
Supervising the conduct of periodic risk assessments to identify new or changing risks in terms of severity, level and impact, and discussing them with the concerned parties from the organizational units.
Supervising the assessment of the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal controls and governance processes in the company and providing recommendations to improve the control environment.
Supervising management responses to audit results in a timely manner and the effectiveness of recommendations.
Maintaining open communication channels with senior management, the Audit Committee, and other stakeholders.
Supervising all internal audit activities and ensuring their compliance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IPPF) and related frameworks.
Oversee the implementation of projects and special reviews as assigned and approved by the Audit Committee.Oversee the preparation of risk registers to support the risk-based audit review including defining the scope and objectives of the audit, the auditable processes in the company, assessing the material risks (impact and likelihood), and the controls in place to mitigate each risk.Promote a culture of risk awareness in the organization to ensure that critical risks with significant impact are reported to senior management to ensure they are mitigated/resolved effectively and in a timely manner.Oversee vital strategic support and risk-based decisions to senior/executive management when required.Oversee the independent and objective approach to compliance issues/concerns (related to the whistleblowing system)
within the organization.Notify the Audit Committee and Risk Management in the event of any potential harm, or critical risk that may have a significant impact on the company.Oversee compliance and conformity processes with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls in the company to ensure employee safety and ensure that legislation is applied.
Advising senior management on governance, risk management and compliance issues.
Supervising the tendering process and selection of external auditors and once selected, effectively coordinating with external auditors during their work to ensure compliance with audit plans.
Supervising the monitoring of internal audit activity evaluations by the external auditor; and preparing reports on any observations to the CEO.
Supervising the review of financial reports received from external auditors on the adequacy of accounting procedures and controls and compliance with financial rules and regulations.
Supervising the compatibility of internal and external audit plans and activities together and ensuring that there is no duplication of work.
Supervising the development of corrective plans to improve the efficiency and productivity of internal audit in accordance with the recommendations of reports received from external auditors and directives from the direct manager; and following up on their implementation and preparing periodic reports on their implementation.
Academic qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree, preferably a Master\'s degree from an accredited academic institution in the United Arab Emirates.
Professional Qualifications:
Obtaining a mandatory international professional certificate (CMA, CIA or CPA).
Certificates in leadership skills.
Required experience:
15 years of relevant experience + 10 years of supervisory experience.
