Job Title: Director, Legal - Middle East & Africa

Department: Legal Department

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Overview: The Director, Legal - Middle East & Africa will function as a member of the EMEA Legal team with a focus on the Middle East and Africa markets. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative and seasoned lawyer who has a proven track record of being successful and valued working as a partner with business clients in an in-house life sciences company setting.

He or she must possess excellent legal and business judgment and must be able to demonstrate success balancing the need to limit risk to the company with the goal of supporting the creativity, enthusiasm, and pace of internal clients as we grow the company together. The candidate must be able to work independently but collaboratively within a fast-paced, high-performance environment, providing legal advice and guidance related to a wide range of commercial, corporate, and other business matters. The role will also support other business needs, large-scale special projects, and compliance related activities, as needed.

Responsibilities: Negotiate commercial contracts with vendors, customers, and distributors engaged by various Insulet teams. Support Market Access matters, including new product launches and post-launch activities. Work with the Commercial and Market Access teams on government tenders. Review sponsorship requests and related contracts. Support development of new pricing models and all associated terms and conditions, communications, etc. Support the business in making transparency disclosures to applicable government authorities. Counsel and advise the Marketing team with respect to marketing and promotional activities, including development, review, and approval of marketing campaigns and promotional materials. Support Healthcare Professional (HCP) engagement initiatives, including activity concept review and providing commercial contracts for HCPs. Train and provide ongoing advice to the Marketing team on relevant rules and regulations. Occasionally support the Human Resources team on employment matters. Collaborate with the Data Privacy team on data protection matters. Collaborate with the Compliance team on compliance and ethics related matters and distributor due diligence screening and monitoring. Review applicable laws and regulations (including proposed legislative initiatives) that may impact Insulet's business and coordinate with external counsel, as necessary. Support with Corporate Governance matters, if needed. Partner with cross-functional, regional, and global teams as part of large-scale projects, such as new product commercialisation projects, to provide support on legal matters. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements:

Minimum Requirements: Qualified lawyer in the US, Europe, or Middle East Demonstrated Minimum 8-10 years of post-qualification experience, including experience in an in-house Legal department Life sciences industry experience the Middle East and Africa regions within a broader EMEA corporate organization, with a track record of providing the highest quality legal advice in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and providing legal advice under pressure and to tight deadlines Native level of fluency in English and Arabic, both oral and written

Preferred Skills and Competencies: Experience in a major law firm and/or in-house in a corporate legal department. Ability to operate in a fast-paced, corporate/in-house work environment and juggle competing priorities while remaining a valued and respected member of business teams. Business orientated self-starter. Excellent communication skills, written and oral. Well-developed business acumen and the ability to leverage his/her business judgment and exceptional legal skills to help close important business deals and establish or strengthen strategic partnerships. Ability to influence and lead at all levels of the company. Proven experience solving both practical and multi-variable problems and challenges. Expertise in negotiating and drafting all types of agreements and negotiating to resolution difficult or unique issues. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Highest standards of integrity and good judgment. A self-starter who thrives when presented with challenges, is very productive and has the motivation to assume increasing and significant responsibility. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected, as is the ability to develop strong relationships with internal clients.

Physical Requirements (if applicable): Must be willing to travel to Europe, with occasional travel to corporate headquarters in the US (up to 15% of the time)
