Department: Civil Engineering/Construction

Reports To: Project Manager/Lead Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Dewatering Engineer to design, implement, and manage dewatering systems for construction, mining, or infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will ensure safe and efficient groundwater control to prevent site flooding, stabilize soil, and comply with environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and Planning:

- Analyze site geology, hydrogeology, and project requirements to design effective dewatering systems (wellpoints, deep wells, etc.).

- Use software (e.g., AutoCAD, MODFLOW, or Plaxis) to model groundwater flow and predict impacts.

- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.

- Implementation and Management:

- Oversee installation, operation, and maintenance of dewatering pumps, pipelines, and equipment.

- Monitor groundwater levels, flow rates, and system performance to ensure compliance with design parameters.

- Troubleshoot issues (e.g., pump failures, clogging, or unexpected groundwater conditions).

- Compliance and Reporting:

- Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, permits, and safety standards.

- Prepare daily/weekly reports on dewatering operations, including water discharge quality and volumes.

- Coordinate with environmental agencies, contractors, and stakeholders.

- Collaboration:

- Work with geotechnical engineers, project managers, and construction teams to integrate dewatering plans with overall project timelines.

- Advise on soil stabilization and excavation support methods.

Qualifications:

- Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

- 5+ years in dewatering, groundwater control, or geotechnical engineering.

- Familiarity with dewatering techniques for excavation, tunneling, or mining projects.

- Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in hydrogeological modeling software (e.g., AquiferTest, Groundwater Vistas).

- Knowledge of pump systems, filtration, and water treatment.

- Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license, OSHA safety training, or equivalent certifications are a plus.

Key Skills:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Excellent communication for team collaboration and client interactions.

- Ability to work in challenging field conditions (construction sites, remote locations).

- Project management and budgeting skills.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with temporary works design (e.g., sheet piles).

- Knowledge of sustainable dewatering practices and water reuse strategies.

- Familiarity with GIS tools for site mapping.
