Job Purpose

To conceptualize, design, and detail custom solutions for metal works projects including structural steel, stainless steel, and aluminum works. The role involves collaborating with clients, project managers, and engineers to create functional and aesthetically pleasing designs while ensuring adherence to industry standards, project requirements, and company goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Development:
• Prepare detailed designs, shop drawings, and 3D models for structural steel, stainless steel, and aluminum works such as staircases, handrails, gates, canopies, claddings, and curtain walls.
• Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and meet both client requirements and industry standards.
• Project Collaboration:
• Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and fabrication teams to understand project scope and resolve design challenges.
• Participate in client meetings to discuss design concepts and gather feedback.
• Technical Detailing:
• Develop precise fabrication drawings for workshop use, ensuring compatibility with available tools, materials, and production methods.
• Specify material types, thicknesses, and finishes for various applications.
• Software Utilization:
• Use advanced design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Tekla Structures, or Revit to produce high-quality designs and models.
• Perform structural analysis and simulations where required to validate the feasibility of designs.
• Standards and Compliance:
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
• Update designs to align with feedback from quality control and site teams.
• Documentation:
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for all designs, including bill of quantities (BOQs), material lists, and design specifications.
• Provide documentation to support project proposals and tender submissions.
• Innovation and Improvement:
• Research new materials, technologies, and methods to enhance design quality and efficiency.
• Introduce innovative design solutions to meet client and project needs.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• Experience:
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in metal works design, focusing on structural steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Hands-on experience with fabrication processes is a plus.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Tekla, Revit).
• Knowledge of fabrication and installation methods for metal works.
• Familiarity with international standards like BS, ASTM, and ISO.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
