Job Title: Dental Technician (UAE Nationals) College: College of DentistryThe following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so qualified.SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:The Dental Technician is responsible for creating dental prostheses, and orthodontics/ pedodontics appliances such as (but not limited to) dentures, ortho appliances, pedo appliances crowns, bridges veneers and implant-supported prostheses, as well as repairing different types of dental prostheses or appliances that match the specifications and requirements provided by the dentist. He/she should be familiar with the conventional and digital approaches. The Dental Technician is also responsible for providing a range of administrative and staff support as well as student support to a wide-range dental services operation. He/she should prepare and maintain dental equipment and supplies in accordance with established protocols, procedures, policies, and standards.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Examines, understands and follows the dentist\'s prescription and the required dental procedure.
Provides (if needed) chair-side assistance to the dentists in the fabrication of dental prostheses and/or appliances.
Making necessary adjustments to the dental prosthesis/appliances to ensure a comfortable and accurate fit of the dental prostheses/appliances.
Assists in teaching, guiding and supporting students in specific dental lab work.
Helps students in their research projects.
Prepares, sterilizes/ disinfects, organizes, monitors, maintains and sets up dental lab equipment, as well as ensures that all dental lab instruments are cleaned and processed according to established clinical guidelines and standards.
Maintains inventories of dental lab supplies and reports to the dental technician supervisor.
Ensures compliance with the health and safety standards of the dental lab, including the proper use and disposal of hazardous materials.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Follows and maintains all relevant institutional regulations, guidelines, policies, and standards for the provision of dental lab/clinic services.
Documents and maintains detailed records of the fabrication process, including the date, the materials used, the type of dental work, the supervisor\'s name and student\'s ID, or any other details specified by the line manager.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:Dental diploma from an accredited institution with at least 2 years of experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Current knowledge of, and ability to follow, a full range of conventional and digital dental procedures and protocols.
Ability to work as a team member within a clinical environment.
Ability to set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and inventory.
Knowledge of governmental and institutional regulations and guidelines for the provision of dental lab services.
Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of dental equipment in accordance with prescribed procedures and standards.
Records maintenance skills.
Knowledge of sterile procedures.
Acceptable written and spoken skills in the English Language.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment.
Moderate physical activity.
Require handling of average-weight objects or standing and/or walking for long periods.
