About the Role:
An opportunity has arisen for a Demi Chef De Partie - Pastry Kitchen to join the culinary team in Jumeirah Zabeel Saray.
The main responsibilities are:
Preparation and creation of a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods, completing the daily checklist regarding mise-en-place and food storage.
Following recipes, creating new recipes, and ensuring the quality of the final product.
Responsible for the selection, handling, and storage of ingredients used in the pastry section.
Ensuring the freshness and quality of ingredients, as well as managing inventory to prevent shortages or excess.
Skilled in using a range of kitchen tools and equipment specific to pastry making, like mixers, ovens, and decorating tools.
Assisting in the development of new dishes and menus, particularly in the pastry section.
Assisting in controlling costs by managing food waste, optimizing ingredient usage, and possibly contributing to budgeting decisions.
Regularly checking the quality of the output from the pastry section, ensuring that all dishes meet the required standards.
Efficiently managing time and multitasking, especially during peak hours, to ensure timely preparation and delivery of pastry items.
Ensuring that the kitchen and work areas are kept clean and organized according to health and safety regulations.
Attend daily meetings with the Chef de Cuisine and other meetings as requested by the Executive Chef/Executive Sous Chef.
Check the main information board regarding changes in any Banquets or other information regarding the organization.
Update the following shift and provide handover on pending tasks.
About You:
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a five-star hotel\'s pastry kitchen.
A diploma or degree in culinary arts, especially with a focus on baking and pastry arts.
Proficiency in various pastry techniques, such as baking, chocolate work, sugar craft, and dessert plating.
Wide Knowledge of Food Safety and Hygiene.
Effective communication skills with all levels of colleagues and management at all levels.
Capable to work outdoors in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in English and a second language would be an added advantage.
