A Database Administrator, or DBA, is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and security measures of company databases. Their duties include monitoring and updating malware protection software to combat potential security breaches, creating account data for authorized individuals to access databases and organizing databases so individuals can find important documents in an efficient manner.
Database Administrator duties and responsibilities
A Database Administrator's duties and responsibilities vary greatly depending on the employer's tech requirements. Universally, these professionals help store and manage data, but their duties and responsibilities may extend to several other areas, such as:
• Extracting and/or loading data
• Setting up cybersecurity measures
• Ensuring all hardware and software are updated
• Authenticating data
• Monitoring the performance of hardware and software
• Configuring servers and databases
• Preserving data integrity
• Ethically handling private data, including financial and/or healthcare data for certain companies
Job Main Responsibilities:
Database Management:
• Monitor database performance, conduct regular performance tuning, and optimize queries for maximum efficiency.
• Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related tools.
• Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data reliability and minimize downtime.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as database backups, index rebuilding, and statistics gathering.
• Manage and optimize healthcare databases to ensure the availability and reliability of critical organizational [website] actual and future ETL processes to ensure optimization and best practices.
Apply any coding recommendations and optimizations.
Data Security and Compliance:
• Develop and implement data security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect sensitive healthcare information.
Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting:
• Identify and resolve database performance issues, such as slow queries, inefficient indexing, or resource contention.
• Conduct database capacity planning to anticipate future storage and performance needs.
• Implement and maintain database monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database systems, including schema, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Generate regular reports on database performance, usage, and security compliance for management and collaborators.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven work experience as a Data Base Administrator, specifically in the healthcare industry.
• Strong knowledge of database management systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server, ETL and MySQL.
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing database performance.
• Knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure.
• Bilingual: knowledge of business English, written and reading.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: AED7,000.00 - AED10,000.00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate:
• Sharjah: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
