The Role
Responsibilities: Database Installation and Configuration: \xe2\x80\xa2 Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances across various versions including SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2016, SQL Server 2017, and SQL Server 2019. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ensure proper configuration settings for optimal performance and security. Database Monitoring and Performance Tuning: \xe2\x80\xa2 Monitor database performance and identify areas for optimization. \xe2\x80\xa2 Implement performance tuning techniques such as index optimization, query optimization, and database configuration changes to improve performance and scalability. Backup and Recovery: \xe2\x80\xa2 Design and implement database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. \xe2\x80\xa2 Perform regular backups, transaction log backups, and database restores according to established policies and procedures. High Availability and Disaster Recovery: \xe2\x80\xa2 Implement high availability solutions such as SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups, database mirroring, and log shipping to ensure database availability and disaster recovery capabilities. \xe2\x80\xa2 Configure failover clustering for SQL Server instances. Security Management: \xe2\x80\xa2 Implement and maintain database security policies, roles, and permissions to protect sensitive data. \xe2\x80\xa2 Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate security risks. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Database Maintenance: \xe2\x80\xa2 Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as database integrity checks, index maintenance, and statistics updates. \xe2\x80\xa2 Monitor database growth and space utilization, and proactively manage storage capacity. Database Automation: \xe2\x80\xa2 Automate routine database administration tasks using PowerShell scripts, T-SQL scripts, or third-party automation tools. \xe2\x80\xa2 Develop and maintain automated processes for database provisioning, configuration management, and performance monitoring. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: \xe2\x80\xa2 Investigate and troubleshoot database-related issues, including performance problems, connectivity issues, and data corruption issues. \xe2\x80\xa2 Work closely with application developers and system administrators to resolve issues in a timely manner. Patch Management: \xe2\x80\xa2 Plan and execute SQL Server patching and upgrade activities to ensure systems are up to date with the latest security patches and bug fixes. \xe2\x80\xa2 Develop patching schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and service disruption. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: \xe2\x80\xa2 Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices. \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide guidance and training to junior DBAs and other IT staff on database administration tasks and technologies.Requirements

• Experience: 5 years \xe2\x80\xa2 Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. \xe2\x80\xa2 5 years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA), with hands-on experience managing SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2016, SQL Server 2017, and SQL Server 2019 environments. \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and administration principles. \xe2\x80\xa2 Proficiency in database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting. \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience with database backup and recovery strategies, including full backups, differential backups, and transaction log backups. \xe2\x80\xa2 Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions for SQL Server, such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups, database mirroring, and log shipping. \xe2\x80\xa2 Familiarity with database security concepts and best practices, including role-based access control, encryption, and auditing. \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience with database automation and scripting using PowerShell, T-SQL, or other scripting languages. \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues. \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
