Our Abu Dhabi-based client is seeking to hire a Data Engineer for their Equities & Active Investment Strategies department. The ideal candidate will be a key member of the Equity Data Science team, providing data engineering solutions to the Global Equities Division. The role involves creating and managing ETL and REST-oriented APIs for data integration, maintaining and cleaning databases, automating processes, ensuring high data quality and governance, and contributing to the development, testing, deployment, and documentation of advanced analytics and data science applications to support investment decisions. Main Duties and Responsibilities


Automate Data Processes:


• Source, transform, and load external and internal data into various third-party and internal investment solutions, databases, and Microsoft solutions.
• Create and monitor ETL and REST-oriented APIs for data integration jobs.
• Develop data models for structured and unstructured data.

Data Quality and Validation:


• Monitor data quality and liaise with providers to ensure data files are accurate and delivered as per agreed SLAs.
• Perform technical and business validation of data loaded into investment solutions, ensuring any data divergences are addressed or explained.

Database Management:


• Maintain and manage departmental databases.
• Collaborate with Council IT staff to optimize data infrastructure.
• Create table schemas and stored procedures

Data Science Ecosystem:


• Support and develop the EAI department's data science ecosystem (Lighthouse).
• Collaborate with the data science function to identify enhancements.
• Participate in the development, testing, code review, documentation, and deployment of new features and products.
• Identify and onboard technologies to enhance the investment process.
• Provide back-up support to the data scientist.

Business Requirements Translation:


• Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications to support system design and implementation.

Process Automation:


• Assist in creating new or migrating existing dashboards to Power BI.
• Develop PowerApps to support the transition to cloud technologies.
• Identify parts of the investment process that could benefit from greater use of technology.

Support Investment Team:


• Generate regular manager position and performance reports for review.
• Prepare information packs for manager review meetings.
• Extract and present information from databases as requested.

Quantitative Tools Development:


• Collaborate with the data science function to develop and deploy quantitative tools for evaluating financial markets and investment managers using machine learning techniques and econometric models.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Science, Engineering, or Finance.


Experience:


• 5+ years of experience in data engineering for end-to-end data collection, transformation, and processing using tools like Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft SSIS, or similar.
• 3+ years of experience in system development using OOP languages (e.g., Python, Java, .NET, C#).
• 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, or similar.
• 5+ years of experience in SQL and relational database development, ideally SQL-Server.
• 5+ years of experience in business intelligence design and implementation using leading technologies like Tableau or Microsoft Power BI.
• Nice to have: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, MongoDB, Stream lit.
