Tableau Platform Administrator will be responsible for managing the Tableau environment in our data eco-system, ensuring its stability, performance, and availability. The role involves a range of responsibilities related to installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Tableau platform.
Installation and Configuration:The Tableau Platform Administrator is responsible for installing and configuring the Tableau Server software on a server or cluster of servers. This includes setting up the server hardware and operating system, configuring network settings, installing the Tableau Server software, and setting up user accounts and security.
Monitoringand Maintenance: The Tableau Platform Administrator must ensure that the Tableau Server environment is running smoothly and efficiently. They must monitor the server for performance issues, system failures, and other problems. They must also perform routine maintenance tasks such as system backups, upgrades, and software patching.
PerformanceTuning: The Tableau Platform Administrator is responsible for optimizing the performance of the Tableau Server environment. This includes identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, tuning database connections, optimizing server settings, and monitoring resource usage.
UserSupport: The Tableau Platform Administrator must provide support to Tableau Server users. This includes helping users troubleshoot problems, answering questions, and providing training and support materials.
Security and Access Control:The Tableau Platform Administrator is responsible for managing security and access control for the Tableau Server environment. This includes setting up user accounts and roles, configuring permissions, and monitoring access to sensitive data.
ContentManagement: The Tableau Platform Administrator must manage the Tableau Server content. This includes publishing workbooks and dashboards, managing data sources, and configuring settings for data refresh and extraction.
Automation*: The Tableau Platform Administrator must use scripting and other tools to automate routine tasks. This includes scheduling backups, setting up alerts, and automating content publishing and refresh.
Collaboration*: The Tableau Platform Administrator must work closely with other teams, such as database administrators, network engineers, and developers, to ensure that the Tableau Server environment integrates effectively with other systems and applications.
