Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cost Estimator specializing in joinery and carpentry purchasing. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimation within the joinery and carpentry industry. This role involves analyzing project requirements, preparing cost estimates, sourcing materials, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure the procurement of high-quality materials at competitive prices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cost Estimation:
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for joinery and carpentry projects.
• Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to determine material and labor requirements.
• Utilize estimation software and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Purchasing:
• Source and procure materials, tools, and equipment required for joinery and carpentry projects.
• Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings and ensure timely delivery.
• Establish and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors.
• Budget Management:
• Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring costs remain within approved limits.
• Monitor project expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
• Project Coordination:
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to understand project requirements and timelines.
• Provide support in planning and scheduling material deliveries to align with project schedules.
• Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to materials and suppliers promptly.
• Quality Control:
• Ensure materials meet the specified standards and quality requirements.
• Conduct regular inspections and quality checks of materials delivered to project sites.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.
• Prepare and present cost analysis reports to management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimation and purchasing within the joinery and carpentry industry.
• Proficiency in estimation software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of joinery and carpentry materials, techniques, and industry standards.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation and procurement processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in cost estimation or procurement (e.g., Certified Cost Estimator, Certified Professional in Supply Management).
• Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).

Working Conditions:

• Primarily office-based with occasional visits to project sites and supplier locations.
• May require extended hours to meet project deadlines.
