Job Description

Job Summary:

The Cost Controller will play a critical role in managing the hotel's operational costs by overseeing and analyzing the hotel's spending, implementing cost-saving measures, and ensuring all expenses align with budgetary constraints. This position will be responsible for managing inventory, conducting audits, and collaborating with various departments to maintain effective cost controls without compromising the quality of guest services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Budget and Forecasting:
• Assist in developing and monitoring the annual budget and forecasts, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
• Monitor and control costs on an ongoing basis, updating forecasts to reflect changes in operations and business levels.
• Inventory and Cost Control:
• Maintain accurate records of inventory and stock usage, conduct regular physical inventory checks, and ensure variance analysis.
• Oversee the purchasing process to ensure compliance with budget and negotiated rates.
• Establish and implement policies for effective inventory and waste management in food & beverage, housekeeping, and other operational departments.
• Reporting and Analysis:
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports, identifying variances and proposing actions to optimize expenses.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of operational expenses and provide recommendations for cost reduction.
• Review monthly financial reports, highlight trends, and analyze cost drivers to guide management on areas for improvement.
• Internal Controls and Compliance:
• Ensure adherence to internal controls for inventory and cost management, including compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with department heads to implement cost-saving initiatives and improve operational efficiency.
• Vendor and Supplier Management:
• Work with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms, evaluate vendor performance, and ensure timely deliveries.
• Review vendor contracts to ensure cost-effective and high-quality supplies while maintaining excellent relationships.
• Audit and Compliance:
• Perform regular audits on various departments to ensure cost control measures are in place and properly followed.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors, ensuring compliance with audit requirements and hotel policies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Cost Controller in a hospitality or hotel environment, preferably in a 5-star setting.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and cost control processes.
• Proficient in hotel accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in managing large budgets and working knowledge of inventory management systems.
• Knowledge of local regulations regarding hotel operations and procurement.
• Certification in cost management or hospitality finance (e.g., Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive, CHA).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED4,000.00 - AED5,500.00 per month
