POSITION OVERVIEW

The Corporate Engineering Manager is responsible for the ongoing compliance with all Aman standards and policies/procedures for operational properties and supporting the delivery of new resorts/hotels within the defined geographical area. S/he supports the implementation of Aman's standards and brand objectives through a focus on engineering strategies and solutions.



RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives.
• Utilize best practice engineering methods and provide expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives.
• Ensure that all hotels operate in an economical, legal and safe manner.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental issues are prioritized and facilitate, direct and drive implementation of strategy as well as continuous improvement across all engineering related areas of the business.
• Review planned maintenance and perfect room program alongside Director of Engineering. Review the progress of the upload of these tasks to HotSOS.
• Deliver corporate P&Ps to Director of Engineering.
• Plan and direct all aspects of engineering activities and projects within Aman.
• MEP coordination with technical services and handover from technical services to operations for new openings and major projects in operational hotels.
• Coordinate with other departments all work necessary to maintain general conditions, safety and health standards set forth by hotel policy and legal requirements.
• Monitor and support the yearly preventive maintenance program of each property.
• Provide engineering direction, ensure adherence to brand standards, and oversee/assist external engineering consultant teams from initial concept development through all phases of design.
• Review MEP design brief, understanding main systems and FLS.
• Receive nonconformance report (NCR), review deviations and provide comment/feedback/approval on each point.
• Carry out visits to the mock-up rooms as required and assess room for full functionality of plumbing, HVAC, electrical and furnishings.
• Compile a report on findings to be delivered to Technical Services on completion of the visit.
• Observe all MEP commissioning and functionality testing and ensure full certification is provided by TS.
• Review engineering department recruitment/manning alongside Director of Engineering and People & Culture representative for new openings.



QUALIFICATIONS

• A degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering and/ or Building Management.
• Minimum 5 years work experience as Engineering Manager in a luxury hospitality environment. Preferable prerequisite is experience in the Hotel industry or any related or similar service-oriented industry.
• Could have previously held positions as Project Engineer, Maintenance Manager
• Fluent in English (further languages desirable)
• Responsible self-starter, capable of handling multi-faceted projects and of working under pressure.
• Team player who values teamwork, has good team building skills and can communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
• Excellent analytical skills, a proactive problem solver.
• Personable and pleasant to deal with. Discreet, reliable, diplomatic.
• Understands and respects local culture, able to adapt to changing environment.
• Recognized as an authority in mechanical and electrical engineering.
• Experience in dispute, conflict resolution, negotiations & deal making.
• Detailed knowledge of air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration systems and related refrigerants, chilled/condenser water components.
• Proficiency in Computer Skills, particularly in the use of Property Management & Energy Management systems.
• Experience in preparing and managing annual maintenance budgets and assist in the preparation of the capital expenditure plans.
• Ensure the resorts comply with all government regulations pertaining to building code requirements, health, fire and life safety programs.
• Review ongoing service contracts ensuring superior performance and competitive pricing.
• Monitor energy and water management programs to ensure cost effective use of utilities. Able to implement and manage proactively a Preventative Management Program.
