Job Description





The Library Research Coordinator at UAE University (UAEU) plays a pivotal role in supporting the research activities of faculty, researchers, and students. This position involves coordinating a range of research support services and resources to enhance the research output and impact of the university community. The Library Research Coordinator is responsible for facilitating access to research materials, providing guidance on research methodologies, assisting with data management, and promoting best practices in scholarly communication. General Duties ? Management of Library and Research Systems and tools ? Provide vital research support services to Students and Researchers ? Develop repository guidelines ? Provide bibliometric reports and other reporting requirements ? Liaise closely with researchers and research office ? Assist with the management and promotion of Open Access initiatives Detailed Duties 1. Institutional Repository and Research Information Management (CRIS) Maintenance: o Assist in the management and maintenance of the Institutional Repository and CRIS System. o Ensure the repository is up-to-date and accurately reflects the research outputs of the university. o Work with researchers to deposit their work and ensure compliance with repository guidelines. 2. Research Support Services: o Provide comprehensive research support to faculty, researchers, and higher degree by research students. o Promote best practices in research data management, data sharing strategies, and scholarly publishing. o Offer guidance on bibliometrics and research skills development. 3. Training and Development: o Develop and deliver engaging and compelling presentations and support materials. o Conduct training sessions and workshops for small and large audiences on topics related to scholarly communication and research practices o Tailor training materials to meet the needs of diverse audiences, ensuring clarity and understanding. 4. Collaboration and Coordination: o Collaborate with the Scholarly Communication team, Research Services, Graduate Research Services, and Schools. o Develop positive working relationships with researchers, students, and colleagues. o Work both independently and as part of a team to achieve common goals. 5. Research Data Management: o Assist researchers with research data management planning and the management of research data or datasets. o Promote data sharing practices to enhance research reproducibility. o Provide support and guidance on the use of tools and practices in the research lifecycle.



Minimum Qualification



MLIS degree or equivalent



Preferred Qualification



? MLIS degree or equivalent with extensive and proven experience in research workflows and systems, Information Technology and Library Services ? Proficiency in using Current Research Information Systems (CRIS) and relevant certifications in library and information systems.



Expected Skills



? Relevant Experience: 5 years + in research institutions Leadership Competences ? Demonstrated ability to lead a team and to coordinate tasks Core Competences ? Knowledge and demonstrated experience of institutional, subject and data and research repositories. ? Knowledge and demonstrated experience of research data management. ? Knowledge and demonstrated experience of quantitative and qualitative data analysis approaches. ? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with researchers in an academic environment. Fluency in English is a must. ? Demonstrated excellent presentation skills, including experience as a trainer. ? Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team. ? Demonstrated ability to manage projects, apply innovative approaches to problem solving and work flexibly in a rapidly changing environment and within limited time frames. Specialized Competences ? Demonstrated understanding of scholarly communication and publishing, open research practices and processes and bibliometrics in an academic environment. ? Completion of a professional qualification in librarianship combined with considerable professional experience.
