Job Purpose:
The Consultant, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), will lead and provide expert clinical care to patients with complex physical impairments and disabilities. This role also includes department leadership, responsible for strategic planning, operational management, and ensuring the highest standard of rehabilitation care is delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities:
• Diagnose and manage a wide range of physical impairments, including musculoskeletal, neurological, and other rehabilitation needs.
• Develop personalized rehabilitation treatment plans aimed at improving patients' physical functionality, mobility, and quality of life.
• Lead multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other allied health professionals, to deliver integrated patient care.
• Perform and supervise rehabilitation procedures, including electrodiagnostic tests, and provide non-surgical management of various physical conditions.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary, ensuring optimal recovery and outcomes.
• Keep up-to-date with advancements in physical medicine and rehabilitation, implementing evidence-based practices in clinical care.
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with medical protocols and hospital regulations.
Leadership and Departmental Management:
• Serve as the Head of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department, overseeing daily operations and managing staff.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance the department's services, improve patient outcomes, and ensure efficient workflows.
• Mentor and provide training to junior physicians, residents, and allied healthcare professionals in the field of rehabilitation.
• Collaborate with hospital management to develop and maintain budgets, allocate resources, and plan for future departmental growth.
• Represent the department in interdisciplinary meetings and liaise with other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
• Promote a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous professional development within the department.
Requirements:
• Medical degree from a recognized institution, with specialization in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
• Western board certification (e.g., American Board, FRCS, or equivalent).
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in physical medicine and rehabilitation, with a proven track record of clinical excellence and leadership.
• Previous experience in a Head of Department or senior leadership role in a hospital setting is highly preferred.
• Expertise in managing complex cases involving musculoskeletal, neurological, and other physical impairments.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Fluency in English
