Performs professional duties of an Internal Medicine doctor.
Responsible for assessment and reassessment of patients.
Evaluates and treats all common conditions during pregnancy: Hypertension (high blood pressure), Diabetes, Blood Clots, Kidney Disease, Thyroid Problems, Pulmonary Disease, Lupus, Heart Disease, Seizures, Bleeding Disorders, Asthma and Obesity in Pregnancy.
Evaluates and treats acute symptoms in pregnancy such as palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, headaches and lower back pain.
Combines the expertise from obstetric medicine physicians with that of a number of other specialists including maternal-fetal medicine specialists, obstetricians, nurses with critical care expertise and pharmacists.
Maintains contact with the patient's obstetrician and other health care providers throughout care.
Responsible for hospitalized cases and certain out-patients whose disease requires medical care at the specialist level.
Responsible for the admission and work-up of all medical patients to medical wards, and HDU as required. These patients remain the responsibility of the admitting internist from the time of admission to the date of discharge.
Responsible for the day-to-day care of patients who are assigned to the ward physicians; however, the ultimate responsibility remains with the admitting Internist.
Conducts out-patient medical consultations in the clinics by appointment and follows-up on medical problems as needed.
Demonstrates dependability by answering to medical consultations by physicians in other departments after working hours and when on call.
Performs the professional duties of an internist in adherence to the Delineation of Privileges maintained by the Internal Medicine department for individual internists. Privileges may differ between individual internists, depending on the efficiency and skills of the particular individual.
Answers in-patient consultations from medical or other in-patient services.
Participates in the reading of EKG's. Performs lung function studies and makes interpretations when needed.
Administers Executive Health Program examinations on a regular basis.
Administrative activities:
Maintains complete and accurate records of all cases.
Attends committee meetings when so assigned by the Head of department.
Involved in development of International level guidelines protocols along with senior staff to standardize and improve quality of service provided.
Follows standard policies and procedures as required by HAAD, JCI, ISO, OSHMS and other regulatory bodies.
Participates in and contributes to in-service activities such as training programs, CMEs, lectures, conferences or other committees as requested and rounds and participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service (e.g. monthly mortality and morbidity conference, peer review, audit and chart review).
Participates in the monthly activities related to Internal Medicine and as assigned other committee functions such as the ER, Infection Review, Standardization, ICU, CCU and CPR.
Participates in in-service death review; chart, Quality Assurance and peer reviews.
To work with the patients throughout the entire process starting from consultation to treatment plan.
Participate in improvement initiates within the department
Handle complaints in an amicable manner when necessary
Foster interdepartmental liaison in order to ensure maintenance of established level of Service Agreements.
Aware of hospital fire policy and emergency procedures.
Participate in a quality assurance program for the endocrinology services and help develop and monitor clinical and other established indicators
Documents of care provided and education/information given to patients within their medical health record, as per professional and practice standards / protocols.
Reviews journals, texts or periodicals in order to keep current on latest techniques, procedures, drugs and therapy.

Qualifications: * Graduation from an approved school of medicine, plus one year of internship.
Three years of residency in Internal Medicine with special training in one of the major sub-specialties such as cardiology or gastroenterology preferred. Culminating in procuring a Post-Graduate Masters degree and/or equivalent Fellowships approved by HAAD.
In possession of valid license by HAAD to practice.
At least three years\' practice in the field of Internal Medicine.
Ability to review procedures and implement new models of service delivery to satisfy client and organizational requirements.
Demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes and ability to consult with staff regarding continuous improvement.
Excellent command of oral and written English. Arabic language advantageous / desirable but not essential.
Possess a can do and flexible approach.
Ability to demonstrate highly developed communication and organizational skills at all levels.
Ability to provide compassionate care that is respectful to patients\' preferences.
Knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and in a team within a complex clinical setting.
