Job Description

Construction managers are tasked with supervising the entire construction process of a project, making sure the construction is technically sound and on budget. Some of the other responsibilities include managing subcontractors, personnel, and ensuring regulations are followed. It will also include to tasks for hiring staff, planning work schedules, buying materials, and maintaining and promoting health and safety on the job site.

Planning-

Prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends.

Develop a detailed project plan and track its progress

Organizing-

Prepare an organizational chart for each project under you, assign roles to team members and set deadlines to achieve targets. Document all quality concerns of sites through reports. Report should have necessary visual supporting and should include recommendations for implementation

Coordinating-

Work hand-in-hand with the project team and Project support team at various stages of the project.

Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, vendors for the flawless execution of projects

Directing

-

Conduct meetings regularly and assist project teams to develop status reports to keep management informed on progress of various projects

Execution-

Ensure work is carried out in accordance with the specifications/ drawings provided

Perform risk management to minimize project risks

Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, vendors for the flawless execution of projects

Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project schedule and costs

Responsible for onsite Health & Safety, encourage safe work practices and rectify job site hazards immediately

Ensure all items are ordered during project duration on time and without delay. Ensure minimal Purchase requests are raised max two per trade to avoid overloading QS and procurement divisions Execute daily operations of monitoring the work executed by the Engineering team at site and prepare interims and completion project reports. Produce daily reports for site activities that can be sent to management. To forecast requirements of labour, discuss and agree all labour requirements with Engineers to ensure that labour costs relate to tender allowances Manage workforce by moving employees between projects depending on the project stage and skill requirement. Train and mentor employees in areas of project management, estimating and contracting Inspect and observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used are in line with project specifications and quality standards Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities, equipment alocation schedule to be prepared and shared with Purchase department to facilitate s cheduling Closely monitor machinery and notify the Line Manager on machinery to be capexed and machinery that needs to be replaced/scraped. Perform risk management to minimize project risks Develop and maintain KPI's for the team. Set goals, monitor progress, and direct the workflow of the department to assure standards are met. Responsible for regular performance evaluations and annual review of performance expectation Determine andmonitor the resource (time, money, equipment) required to complete a project Manage Cash Flow Requirements for the Projects and control expenditures within project budget Meet or exceed project labor budget expectations Develop and implement project execution strategy, ensure the implementation of quality control standards and cost control on project for on time completion Produce invoices to ensure cash-flow targets are met Responsible for accurate/timely project documentation and job file maintenance in office and field Forecast requirements; prepare an annual budget; schedule expenditures; analyze variances; initiating corrective actions
