Job Purpose :
The Civil Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing the civil construction activities of substation projects, ensuring that all works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role requires extensive experience in high-voltage substation construction and a solid understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of such projects.
Key Responsibilities :
• Project Management :
• Lead and manage all civil construction activities for substations, from site preparation through to project completion.
• Develop and monitor project timelines, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
• Manage project budgets and ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Site Supervision :
• Oversee daily site operations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, labor, and materials to ensure efficient workflow.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and identify potential issues.
• Stakeholder Coordination :
• Collaborate with engineering, electrical, and other construction teams to ensure smooth integration of civil works with overall substation construction.
• Liaise with clients, government bodies, and regulatory authorities for necessary approvals and documentation.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that all parties are aligned on project goals and progress.
• Quality Control & Safety :
• Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that all construction activities meet design specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure that all construction activities comply with health, safety, and environmental standards, particularly in the context of working around high-voltage installations.
• Risk Management & Problem-Solving :
• Identify potential risks or challenges in the project and develop mitigation strategies.
• Provide solutions to construction challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines and costs.
Key Competencies :
• Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple teams and ensure smooth project execution.
• Deep knowledge of civil construction techniques, particularly related to substations.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Problem-solving abilities to address project challenges and ensure continuous progress.
Qualifications & Experience :
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in civil construction.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale civil construction projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical substation infrastructure and associated civil works.
• Proficiency in construction project management software and tools.
Additional Requirements :
• Ability to work in high-pressure environments with strict safety regulations.
• Willingness to travel or relocate, depending on project locations.
