Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and passionate Bakery Chef with expertise in Turkish cuisine to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in traditional Turkish baked goods, from savory breads to delicious pastries, and a deep understanding of Turkish culinary techniques and ingredients. As the Bakery Chef, you will be responsible for creating, preparing, and presenting high-quality bakery items, ensuring consistency, flavor, and presentation that align with both traditional Turkish recipes and modern standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Turkish Bakery Specialties: Prepare and bake a variety of traditional Turkish baked goods, including •simit•, •borek•, •pide•, •koy ekme?i• (village bread), •baklava•, and other regional specialties.
• Menu Development: Work with the Head Chef and kitchen team to create new bakery items inspired by Turkish cuisine, incorporating seasonal ingredients and modern presentation techniques.
• Quality Control: Ensure that all bakery items meet the highest standards of quality, texture, and flavor. Maintain consistency in recipes and presentation.
• Baking Techniques: Utilize traditional Turkish baking methods and equipment, including wood-fired ovens, to create authentic flavors and textures.
• Ingredient Management: Select and source authentic Turkish ingredients (such as •yufka• dough, •pekmez•, •sumac•, •feta•, and various herbs and spices) while ensuring that all items are prepared fresh daily.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and train junior bakery staff, ensuring they follow recipes, proper techniques, and health and safety standards.
• Kitchen Hygiene & Safety: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety, including proper storage and handling of ingredients and bakery equipment.
• Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels, ensuring that bakery items and ingredients are sufficiently stocked and stored, minimizing waste and overstocking.
• Customer Engagement: Provide excellent service and engage with customers when necessary, explaining the unique elements of Turkish pastries and breads.
Qualifications:
• Experience: At least 1-3 years of experience working as a Bakery Chef, with a specific focus on Turkish baked goods and traditional pastry techniques.
• Skills:
• Expertise in Turkish baking methods, including knowledge of regional variations of bread, pastries, and sweets.
• Strong attention to detail in both flavor and presentation.
• Ability to lead and manage a bakery team effectively.
• Education: Culinary degree or relevant certification in baking or pastry arts is preferred.
• Creativity: Passion for experimenting with traditional Turkish recipes and modernizing them while maintaining authenticity.
• Health & Safety: Knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food safety standards, and proper handling of bakery equipment.
• Personal Qualities:
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
