Commercial Manager

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Commercial Manager to join our team on an existing project in our Abu Dhabi sector. In this pivotal role you will get to you will take the lead in delivering post-contract quantity surveying and estimating activities typical to the engineering and construction industry in the UAE.

What You'll Be Doing:
• Oversee financial and contractual management of the project/programme, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, and contractual terms.
• Manage third-party Cost Consultant (ICC) and their team of Quantity Surveyors to ensure accurate cost assessments and compliance with project requirements.
• Provide ongoing support for all financial and contractual matters throughout the project lifecycle, from initiation to completion.
• Supervise the preparation and finalization of contractor's monthly payment certificates, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain organized and accurate cost and quantity records, ensuring consistency and compliance with contractual guidelines.
• Advise the project team on measurement procedures, including the calculation of interim and final quantities.
• Evaluate unit rates for new work items, ensuring alignment with project standards and market conditions.
• Implement and oversee day works recording processes, ensuring accurate tracking and compliance with contract terms.
• Lead the preparation of variation orders and the evaluation of claims, ensuring contractual integrity and fair valuation.
• Provide expert advice on contractual matters, specifically those related to financial issues and cost management.
• Ensure all contractual requirements are thoroughly reviewed, verified, and adhered to, mitigating potential risks.
• Prepare and present weekly/monthly cost reports to clients, providing clear insights into financial status and project progress.
• Audit contractor payments to verify accuracy and compliance with agreed terms.
• Ensure timely submission and completeness of valuations, with appropriate documentation.
• Verify and record measurements of completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Monitor final cost estimates, ensuring that costs align with approved budgets and project scope.
• Coordinate and manage the activities of the project team, including the Cost Consultant and Quantity Surveyors, to ensure smooth project execution.
• Prepare final account documentation, ensuring all financial aspects are accurately concluded and documented.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
• Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying or related field.
• Minimum15 years postgraduate of demonstrable experience in all aspects of quantity surveying.
• Proven experience in analysing contract variations, assessing payment applications and cost reporting.
• Experience in commercial management with consultant on construction supervision projects is a must.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong understanding of construction contract commercial documents, engineering drawings, and specifications.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
• Qualified and chartered by a recognised international body such as Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or similar will be an added advantage.
• Ability to perform complex commercial management activities typical to the engineering and construction industry.
• Experience with FIDIC contracts.
• Experience working as a consultant providing internal and external advice to client and ability to work autonomously.
• Working knowledge of software typically associated with quantity surveying and project controls, such as Cost X and Electronic Document Management Systems etc.
