Clinical Technical Specialist Position Overview:
The position is responsible to provide clinical and technical support on all aspects of Cochlear Implant products to all clinics and other stakeholders in the responsible region (GCC region excluding KSA). The position includes the responsibility to support the market penetration of the profoundly and severely hearing-impaired population in the designated region by developing the market and ensuring acceptance of cochlear products as a viable treatment for both adults and children and achieving reimbursement for all products from a clinical/technical perspective. The role adds to ensure a close customer relationship, to increase customer loyalty and to ward off competition in the region, establishing Cochlear as a reliable partner for hearing solutions in the region. In addition, the position includes a sales development responsibility for Cochlear Implant products by supporting the distributors sales staff and developing market growth strategy in collaboration with the Area Sales Manager.
At times and upon request by the Area Sales Manager or Training Manager Middle East, the position may be responsible to provide clinical technical support in other countries in the Middle East region.
Accountabilities:
Accountability 1: Clinical and Technical Support:
Support the distributor(s) and other business partners in the responsible region in clinical/ technical matters or promotional events.
Establish and maintain end-user friendly implantable hearing solutions programs in collaboration with the distributor(s).
Support hearing centers and similar institutions in understanding and applying Cochlears recommendations with regard to a successful treatment of patients at all stages required to obtain the best possible outcomes with Cochlear products.
Perform software installations and provide ongoing information and training on software, programming and Cochlears products to achieve and maintain the highest level of knowledge by customers (e.g. doctors, audiologist and patients).
Visit audiology departments and other key stakeholders on a regular basis.
Instruct end-users, clinic staff and distributor staff how to make best use of Cochlear products.
Active and passive participation in national, regional and international congresses and workshops.
Provide on-site support and training for intra-operative measurement, such as impedance, NRT, Advanced NRT measurements, integrity tests, MAPing and any other required technical support in connection with Cochlear products. All this in alignment with the Middle East Clinical Technical Manager and the Area Sales Manager for interpretation of the different problems.
Support clinics to start new implantable hearing solutions programs by using well established models from experienced clinics.
Arrange, as interface between local stakeholders and the internal training provider (Cochlear Academy), the continuous and adequate product related training of surgeons, audiologist, rehabilitation professionals and other cochlear implant professionals:
Ensure application of the quality standards of Cochlear Academy as well as the existing processes of Cochlear Academy and Cochlear Europe.
Align with Cochlear Academy and Area Manager on the training location (Cochlear Academy or in-country).
Continuously improve CI Service in alignment with the Cochlear quality system regulations.
Continuously provide guidance to distributor staff, clinic personnel and other relevant stakeholders on how to communicate information to end-users and other third parties about Cochlear implants and future products.
Accountability 2: Business and Marketing Management:
Maintain regular personal contacts with key personnel, i.e. Directors, ENT, Surgeons, Audiologist, Engineers, Speech Therapist, Psychologists and other Health Care Professionals who are part of teams offering implantable hearing solutions.
Establish close personal contact with the distributor staff in order to be involved in the purchasing decision process through the preparation of tenders, Quality Studies and the presentation of other medico-economic data in order to favorably influence the decision to buy.
Maintain close personal contacts with schools for the deaf to ensure a smooth and continuous flow of deafened and born deaf children to the clinics for investigation and evaluation.
Support the Area Sales Manager with regards to:
Increasing the awareness of the product lines.
Supporting the development of a recipient-advocate network.
Organizing SPOT sessions and Patient Awareness days with CI accounts and speech rehabilitation centers.
Drive distributor(s) in developing good working relationships with members of the media, both commercially and scientific, thereby ensuring full coverage of developments and milestones for our products and for clinics within the territory;
Develop and maintain a good knowledge of the health care system(s) in the territory of responsibility.
Help the establishment of charitable trusts or foundations to seek alternative funding outside the public sector.
Supervise the repair policies implementation for Cochlear CI products.
Ensure Cochlear Implant patients have access to a speech processor exchange pool by implementing adequate demand planning and product tracking with implanting centers.
Accountability 3: Clinical Studies and Research:
Under the supervision of the Clinical Technical and Research Manager and the guidance of the Aria Sales Manager, identify and support clinical trials opportunities, to arrange cooperation on selected research topics where possible and within the responsible region. Work within existing processes for clinical trials and international cooperation, considering local or regional regulations.
Coordinate with the Regional Clinical Studies / Clinical Technical Team and all relevant clinic staff the preparation of scientific reports for presentation at relevant Medical congresses and help gaining publication of these in public journals as well as in the preparation of Cochlears research meetings.

Follow relevant quality procedures in order to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement.
Contribute ideas on systems and process methods to improve deliverables
Work safely, complying with all safety procedures, rules and instructions; and reporting workplace hazards, incidents or injuries to manager
The day to day activity will be reported and monitored by the GCC Area Sales Manager and the managerial reporting and planning will be with the GCC Area Sales Manager (Solid reporting line) supported by the clinical technical and research manager (dotted reporting line)
Key Incumbent requirements:
Minimum:
Education:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Audiology or Vocational Training as Acoustician with several years of experience.
Work Experience:
3-5 years working in sales/commercial field.
Experience in/with life science/medical devices industry.
IT Skills:
MS Office (advanced).
Soft Skills:
Good interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
People Management skills.
Language Skills/ Proficiency:
Arabic (fluent).
English (fluent).
Ideal:
Education:
Master Degree in Engineering or Audiology.
Further education or degree in Business Administration.
Work Experience:
Experience working in international company in industry sector.
Knowledge of hearing instruments (implantable hearing solutions and/or hearing aids).
Several years of experience managing people as team leader.
IT Skills:
CRM software (salesforce or similar).
Region-specific Requirements:
Travel within Middle East and at times to Europe (e.g. UK, Belgium, Switzerland) required.
Ability and willingness to work with people from different cultural backgrounds.
