Job Description

:2.1 Clinic Assistant is assisting Physician/ Registered Nurse/ Midwife with non-Nursing duties for patients with
various healthcare needs.
2.2 Clinic Assistant assist in performing routine nonclinical tasks under the supervision of a Physician/ Registered
Nurse/ Midwife.Responsibilities:3.1 To assist Physician in clinic including accessing, adding, and modifying the patient's medical records under the
physician's supervision.
3.2 Request the necessary laboratory investigation for the patient based on physician order.
3.3 Supports the Clinical team by collecting medical reports from various departments.
3.4 To assist the provision of high-quality care to patients and their families under the direction and supervision of
the Physician/ Registered Nurse/ Midwife.
3.5 Demonstrate competence in the provision of care to meet the needs of patients whilst promoting dignity,
privacy, and respect.
3.6 To perform basic care under the direction of Physician/ Registered Nurse/ Midwife.
3.7 To assist all patients who are able, towards independence and activity under the direction of the Physician/
Registered Nurse/ Midwife.
3.8 To provide patient comfort prior physician assessment by utilizing resources and materials; transporting
patients for fetal medicine if required.
3.9 To assist patient transfer to other departments.
3.10 To transport patient records between departments.3.11 To support the registered nurse staff and ward clerk in the clerical, administrative and reception duties in the
ward.
3.12 To assist in maintenance of stocks and non-medical supplies.
3.13 To develop and utilize good communication skills, receive, and pass on telephone message.
3.14 To correctly use aids and equipment supplied for patients. Report needs and obvious defects of this equipment
to the Registered Nurse/ Midwife in-charge.
3.15 To cover the duties of the ward clerk in absence.
3.16 To advice the Registered Nurse/ Midwife in charge of malfunctioning equipment.
3.17 To liaise with the Registered Nurse/ Midwife in-charge in the assessment of equipment and medical consumable
items requirements.
3.18 To ensure appropriate utilization of resources effectively and efficiently.
3.19 To provide positive patient experience through the delivery of high-quality customer service.
3.20 To identify unsafe care practices and contribute to corrective actions.
3.21 Observe and maintain confidentiality of information data relating to patients, staff, service, and the
organization.
3.22 To appropriately escalate identified concerns according to level of urgency.
3.23 To demonstrate an understanding of positive health and promote positive health.
3.24 To work within the current policies issued by hospital, reporting any sickness and accidents to the Physician/
Registered Nurse/ Midwife and Nurse Manager.
3.25 To liaise with nursing colleagues and other professional, the standards, hospital policies and procedures, local
requirements and JCI standards.
3.26 To participate in any other duties that you may be asked to undertake by Physician/ Senior Nursing staff within
the scope of practice.
3.27 To ensure that patients/ clients belongings and valuable are kept safely, adhering to local procedures.
3.28 To be able to administer and seek advice on the appropriate measures in an emergency.
3.29 To ensure that patient/client's privacy maintained, and that dignity and freedom of choice is enhanced.
3.30 To report all changes in patients' condition to the Physician/ Registered Nurse/ Midwife.
3.31 To maintain knowledge, skills and accept responsibility for own education and career development.
3.32 To attend in-service training, other training program and meetings as required.3.33 Set goal and standards for self-improvement.
3.34 To process clear understanding and commitment to NMC policies. Accepts and recognizes the legal limitations
and ethical parameters of the role.
3.35 Demonstrate effective oral and written communications skills.
3.36 Demonstrate flexibility in meeting work demands and able to work as a team.
3.37 Demonstrate understanding of cultural differences.
3.38 Takes direction from the Registered Nurse/ Midwife in problem solving.
3.39 Maintains confidentiality at all times.
3.40 Be informed on health & safety regulation affecting the unit in which they work.
3.41 Have full knowledge of fire precautions and regulations.
3.42 Be familiar with all types of Hospital codes and know how to telephone for emergency services.
3.43 The clinic assistant will also be expected to contribute to the wider corporate and organizational development
needs as appropriate within the scope of service.
3.44 The clinic assistant will be expected to ensure compliance with the requirement of the health and safety
regulations of the hospital.
3.45 Meets work demands and is able to follow directions accurately.
3.46 To perform any other duty as required by line manager that commensurate with the post.
3.47 Assist the Doctor during consultation of patients, by preparing the examination bed.
3.48 Ensure clinics are clean and medical waste is managed as per hospital/ DOH guidelines.
3.49 Ensures treatment rooms are cleaned after each procedure is completed.
3.50 Pre-Cleans used instruments as necessary before sending the instruments to CSSD for sterilization.
3.51 Cleans used equipment after every use and dates/ signs clean equipment tag.
3.52 Maintains inventory of all clinical trays and surgical instruments stored in doctor's room and treatment room.
3.53 Assist in outpatient clinics where required. Flexible in assignment when directed by Registered Nurse/ Midwifes
in charge.
3.54 Complying consistently with NMC policies, procedures & practices.
3.55 Maintain confidentiality with regards with any information exchanged or received in current capacity in
accordance with confidentiality agreement and organizational policy.
3.56 Employee must understand and adhere to the Emergency preparedness plan/ policy.3.57 Participate in mandatory training and workshop as per organizational and regulators.
3.58 Dress appropriately as per organizational policy and the culture of United Arab Emirates.
3.59 Comply with all OSH (Occupational safety and health and infection control policies, standards and procedures
and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements
3.60 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.
3.61 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
3.62 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk
assessments, incident reports.
3.63 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
3.64 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
3.65 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systemsQualifications:4.1 Bachelor's Degree or Nursing qualification background. This can be bachelors in healthcare related field
4.2 Two Years or more years of experience in hospital environment/ nursing experience.
4.3 BLS certificate preferred.
4.4 Computer literate
4.5 Good communication, interpersonal and documentation skills.
