Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Clinical Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications, providing expert advice and guidance to patients and healthcare professionals, and contributing to the overall health and well-being of our community. You will ensure the provision of high quality, safe, comprehensive (clinical, supply, financial and operational) pharmaceutical services to the Pharmacy and Clinic, in accordance with the priorities set by the post holder and the Clinic Management. You will act as a role model in line with corporate objectives which is a clinical practice combined with a digital platform. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to decide upon the best medications to treat patient symptoms. It is a job that requires extensive medical and pharmaceutical knowledge specifically for Diabetes. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communication: coordinate with nurses, physicians, nutritionists and therapists to create a customized care plan for participants for overall health and well being in person and on a digital platform.
  • Confidentiality: in the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately. Information relating to the patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Center may only be divulged to authorized persons in accordance with the Center policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.
  • Create Clinical Criteria: you will contribute collectively to the clinical criteria for both new and existing pharmaceuticals. This duty involves doing extensive academic research on drugs. Contribute to the development and implementation of guidelines and policies for the management and use of drugs. Contributes to resolving Medication Safety for the Pharmacy and Clinic. Help ensure root cause analysis of medication errors is undertaken as appropriate and is reported in conjunction with Clinical Risk.
  • Analyze medical patient medical histories: you will make their decision on which drugs to prescribe based on this analysis of the patients medical profile and history. Based on this information, they can predict which medications may present risk of severe side effects. Minimize risk to patients through effective supervision of clinicians, nurses and patients relating to medicine use.
  • Evaluate Laboratory Data: you will monitor patients lab results in order to see if certain medications are having a negative effect on any organs. You will also need to watch out for inter-drug reactions.
  • Report drug adverse events: you will be responsible for reporting side effects that severely affect a patients health. This involves keeping meticulous records of such incidents. Also falling under this responsibility is reporting suspected cases of drug abuse.
  • Prescribe medications: the research and lab analysis done by Clinical Pharmacists is completed in order to give them enough information to choose the best medications for treating a patients system. This process involves interviewing patients to have them talk about their symptoms, as well as any strange reactions they have had to medicine in the past.
  • Financial and resource management: help monitor drug expenditure within the Pharmacy and Clinic and provide accurate expenditure information, with appropriate analysis, to the Clinic management, in line with clinic policies. Help forecast the cost impact of new drugs on the Pharmacy and the Clinic drugs budget and manage their introduction into clinical practice using horizon scanning techniques.
  • Personal/ Professional development- in addition to maintaining your CPD/CME (continued professional development) through attendance at any courses and/ or study days necessary to ensure that professional development requirements are met, the post- holder will participate in any training program implemented by the Clinic as part of this employment, such training to include: participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/ or professional development.
Requirements Education and Experience:
  • DHA-licensed
  • BA/BS in Pharmaceutical science, MPharm (Masters degree) is an advantage
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy or equivalent are of practice and/or experience in clinical pharmacy or medication safety or related area
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
  • Able to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgment while working with high-volume/high-expectation patients and internal stakeholders
  • Effective communicator, able to work in a close-knit team and cooperate with all medical and paramedical staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Able to maintain helpful, caring and courteous relationships with the patients
